GENERAL

1. GAIS Campus Update

Please remember to vote on the proposed changes to our governance structure either by absentee ballot or in person at the special Members Meeting this Thursday, June 6 at 7:30pm. These changes are relevant to site search efforts as we cannot secure financing and a new campus with current GAIS bylaws because the current structure presents unacceptable risks to potential lenders.  Financing is necessary for GAIS to be able to sign a long-term lease or potentially in the future to purchase a site.

Updates on lease negotiations with MPCSD, site search, and capital campaign return next week. There has been a lot of work and momentum in all areas, in particular with the site search efforts.

2. Q&A Session about By-Law changes

Daniel Zimmermann, GAIS's attorney, will hold a Q&A Session about the proposed By-Law changes on Wednesday, June 5, 7:30pm in the gym.

3. School Academic Review 2012-13

Dominic Liechti and each principal will give an academic update about the current and upcoming school year. This presentation will take place this upcoming Thursday, June 6, 6:30pm - 7:15pm, before the Special Members Meeting

4. Circus GAISarotti - a great Summerfest!

The Summerfest 2013 was a wonderful event. We hope that all of you had a great time enjoying Circus GAISarotti with all our young talents. Events like this are not only possible due to our great students who stepped forward to play music, sing, dance, do magic tricks, do gymnastics and much more but also because of all the involved teachers and parents who volunteered "behind the scenes" with many, sometimes very exhausting, tasks. We would like to thank all performers, helpers, volunteers and vendors for their appreciated support and help! A very special thank you goes to Dagmar Stullich for organizing this whole event and to David Giesen for volunteering as our Circus Director Mr. Giesollini and leading through the program. THANK YOU!

5. GAIS Buddy System for New Families

The New Family Committee is setting up a buddy system for new, incoming families. The purpose of the buddy system is to offer extra support to new families by matching them with a current family to help them make the transition a little easier, and to answer questions they may have. We wouldd like to have a list of potential buddies in place before the summer so we can connect families before the new school year starts. Being a buddy will also be one way to get some volunteer hours in. Please sign up here:

7. Library - Book Loans over Summer Break 2013

Books Like last year, all returning GAIS-families for school year 2013-14 will be able to borrow books from the library over the Summer Break. In order to do so, you must return all your currently loaned books by June 14th. Summer loans will be made between June 17th and 20th. You can borrow over the normal limit if you wish. However, we do require the parents to sign the checkout list. To help you choose books, we will have recommendations for different age groups/reading levels available.
