GENERAL
1. Parent Appreciation Lunch - THANK YOU!
 Dear GAIS parents, The whole GAIS staff would like to thank you so much for the wonderful and delicious Staff Appreciation Lunch we enjoyed last Friday, 18, 2013. Once again you have spoilt us with a great buffet full of mouth-watering snacks, dishes and drinks - all participants went home with full and happy stomachs, lots of great memories and even a favor from the gift table.A very special thank you goes to our three Head Parent Reps Monica Brandt, Tracey Grown and Harry Idahera and their team for the lovely table set-up and decoration and serving us at the buffet! 2. EC Program Spring 2013 - update on sign-ups

This is a friendly reminder that sign-up for the Extra Curricular Program will end this Friday, January 25, 2013, before we will enforce the late fee charge of $50.
The following classes are already full:
- Monday: Young Rembrandts
- Tuesday: Swiss lessons (PS/VS)
- Wednesday: Soccer (Gr 1-3), My Gym (PS/VS)
- Thursday: Story time (PS/VS)
- Friday: Schmahl Science
The following classes will need more enrollment in order to not be canceled:
- Monday: Music together (reduced price - see EC Program), Little Sluggers Baseball (PS/VS)
- Tuesday: Little Hoopers (PS/VS), Choirs (Gr. 2-4); Chess (VS-4), Tennis (Gr 1-4) (we have a new coach), German for adults
- Wednesday: Arts & Craft (Gr 1-2), Advanced Tennis (Gr 1-4)
- Thursday: Small Fry Dance Club (PS/VS), After School Hoops (Gr. 1-4), Lil Sluggers Baseball (Gr 1-2), Typing class (Gr.2-4)
- Friday: LEGO Robotics (Gr. 5-8 - new price policy, see EC Program), Commedia Dell'Arte (Gr.5-8) now offered by Mr. Giesen.

3. Annual Fund - opening soon!
As already announced, we are going to open our GAIS Annual Fund soon. The main goal is to collect funds which provide resources necessary to:
 - Recruit and retain teachers of the highest caliber
- Enhance the academic program at GAIS
- Bridge the gap between tuition income and the actual expense of a GAIS education.

4. GAIS Board - reminder: apply for a members seat
Elections of new board members are coming up soon. There are four open positions. Any parent is qualified. Time commitment is once a month Thursday night at the board meetings from 7:30 to 10pm plus involvement in a committee (e.g. marketing, finance, education, personnel, facility, fundraising or policy). If you are interested in running for a board seat please contact Kristen Hughes, Board Secretary, at kristen@hughes-family.org or Susi Lindley, Business Manager, at slindley@gais.org.
UPCOMING EVENTS
5. Members Meeting & Board Meeting: January 31, 2013

The next Members Meeting and first Board Meeting of the year 2013 will take place on Thursday, January 31, 2013. The Members Meeting starts at 7:30 pm and takes place in the Gym. The Board Meeting will start at 9:00pm.
6. GAIS Stammtisch: February 7, 2013
The next GAIS Stammtisch will take place on Thursday, February 7, 2013, 7:00 pm at Gourmethaus Staudt in Redwood City.
7. Winter Break: February 18 - February 22, 2013
School will be closed from February 18 - February 22, 2013. There will be no classes. Nevertheless, Hort will be offered during this week. If you are interested in Hort please send an email to Maike Silver at msilver@gais.org with FULL NAME of student and exact days/time of which you want to have Hort for your child. First come - first serve!
