2. Extracurricular Program Spring 2013 - online
The new Extracurricular (EC) Program is now online!
Deadline for EC enrollment will be January 25, 2013 at midnight. After the deadline we will charge a fee of $50 for late sign-ups.
In the 'NTM - News That Matters' on January 29, 2013, we will provide you with a final and detailed chart-overview of the EC Program Spring 2013. This will also be your confirmation. If a particular class should have to be canceled due to a lack of participants or if you are on the waiting list, we will inform you beforehand. Should you have any questions about the EC please contact Maike Silver at msilver@gais.org
3. Carpooling at GAIS - new online system
Finally, we could set up an online carpooling system which makes it much easier for GAIS members to find/form carpools. Together with CarpoolAssist.com, a specialist in online carpooling solutions which serves more than over 260 U.S. schools, we have established a protected GAIS carpool system section on their website over the last few months.
We have already implemented most of your necessary information and created a single user per family/address so you will not have to go through the whole 'registering process' anymore.
In the coming days, you will receive an email with the user and initial password information as well as more instructions/explanations about the carpooling system from CarpoolAssist.com. If you should not receive such an email, it could have either landed in your spam filter (please check) or we have not been given permission from you to release any of your information/data.
You will need a password to access the restricted GAIS section!
You will have to use this password once you have logged in to your personal account and are selecting the school 'GAIS' to look for and/or form carpools. Please do not share this password with others!

4. Important information about our Parent Talks 2013
This is a friendly reminder that our first Parent Talk in 2013 takes place on Tuesday, January 8. Furthermore, we will postpone the second parent talk from January 10, 2013, to Thursday, March 7, 2013, 9:00am.
Join us for the first and interesting Parent Talk on January 8, 2013 at 7:00pm about "Digital Safety and Cyber-Citizenship for Tweens: Tools for Parents" (slightly changed topic) and help us spreading the word:
"Our youth are technically adept consumers and creators of media. The high tech world is their major means of communication and entertainment. In this seminar, you will learn about this digital landscape including how youth are using social networking, blogs, chat rooms, instant messaging, texting, sexting, and gaming. We will explore the potential issues and problems our youth confront with digital technology such as cyber bullying, child obesity, predators, damage to digital reputation, and addictive behaviors. You will walk away with practical solutions and strategies for wise media management and teaching kids safe, healthy and responsible use of digital technology."

5. Minimum Day: December 20, 2012
This is a friendly reminder that Thursday, December 20, 2012 will be a 'Minimum Day' and therefore the school closes at 12:00pm. Hort will be available in the afternoon.
Be also informed that there will be no classes and Hort being offered on Friday, December 21, 2012.
6. GAIS Stammtisch: December 20, 2012
There will be a 'Year End - Stammtisch' on December 20, 2012, starting at 7:00pm and taking place at Gourmethaus Staudt.
