Legendary Photographer Retires
After 45 years working full-time for the Rutland Herald, photographer A.J. Marro '66 has announced his retirement. Marro has captured key moments in Rutland history, most notably sporting events."AJ means so much to this community. He's a part of the fabric of this community, he has been around and touched so many lives through his photographs," Tom Donahue stated in PEGTV's Marro segment.

MSJ Senior Receives West Point Nomination
Presidential candidate and US Senator Bernard Sanders nominated Monica Schmelzenbach '16 for admission to the United States Military Academy. Only a select number of Vermonters have been lucky enough to receive this honor, one of whom is Monica's sister, Claire Schmelzenbach '14, who is currently studying at West Point. The next step for Monica is to wait to see if she will be granted an appointment, which is equivalent to an admission! Featured in this photo is Monica accepting the nomination from Senator Leahy and Congressman Welch.
Men's Basketball at Top of Their Division
The men's basketball team has won seven games in a row and is now (7-2) overall on the season, placing them at the top of Division 2! They ended the first semester strong, victorious in both the Bob Abrahamson Classic in Proctor and the Green Mountain Holiday Tournament. "We are excited to head into a second semester that is filled with a more equitable schedule than last year, including key games against several area teams that are both in our League and in our Division," said MSJ coach Dave Randall after tournament victories.
Mounties Remain Undefeated
Since the competitive home scrimmage against Division I powerhouse Rice, the Mounties have not slowed down and remain undefeated. They were recently victorious at the Green Mountain Holiday Tournament on December 23rd. The reigning Division IV champion Mounties, look forward to returning to the Barre Auditorium this year for a chance to defend their title. They are currently ranked No. 1 in their division.

MSJ Open House
Tuesday, February 2nd at 6pm
All interested families are welcomed to attend MSJ's winter open house. MSJ will display the various opportunities offered such as, academics, athletics, co-curricular activities, service opportunities, scholarship/financial assistance options, and more! Mount Saint Joseph Academy welcomes students to consider its college preparatory program. Students who graduate from MSJ and are admitted to Saint Michael's College will receive a scholarship of $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year). Five students from MSJ are also eligible for two-year full tuition scholarships to the College of Saint Joseph each year. Mardi Gras Mingle
The "Mardi Gras Mingle" will include a live DJ and a cash raffle! There will be one $250 winner and a grand prize winner of $2,000. In order for the raffle to be held, we must sell 125 tickets; the "mingle" will go on regardless. Thank you Wally Sabotka and Joe Lorman for helping making this event possible with your generous donations!
Save the Date: Alumni and Friends Weekend
MSJ will host an alumni and friends weekend in July! Event will include festivities such as the popular "Honor Our Past" event and second annual wiffle ball tournament. More details will be provided in future email newsletters, but we hope to see you in late July!

ALUMNI AND FRIENDS
During his first collegiate meet, Kyle Deizel '15 broke Colby Sawyer College's record in the 400 meter race, placing 17th with a time of 53.71. The record was set on December 5th at the 4th Annual UMass Boston Indoor Open.
Bizon Jr. Becomes Second Lieutenant
MSJ alumnus, Lee J Bizon Jr. '10 received a direct commission into the US Army Medical Corp as a Second Lieutenant. Bizon was awarded his badge from his mother Paula, who also received this honor in 1981. Bizon is currently completing his Family Nurse Practitioner Master's program at the University of Vermont's School of Nursing.

MSJ Class of 2005: 10-Year Reunion!
MSJ Class of 1976: 40th Reunion!!
MSJ Class of 1966 Golden Graduation & 50th Reunion!!
June 3rd and June 4th, 2016: Golden graduates are invited to attend the 2016 MSJ commencement ceremony on Friday at 6PM, where they will be presented with Golden Diplomas. Plans are to meet casually on Friday following the graduation, with a more formal event planned for Saturday. Watch your mail for more information regarding the reunion weekend from Chairmen Gale Licausi and Helen Kinsman.
