ALUMNI AND FRIENDS
After 30 years as the Commissioner of Finance and Management for the state of Vermont, Jim Reardon has decided to retire.
"I'm ready to do something else."
There are no plans yet of what the former State Finance Chief plans to do once his retirement officially starts at the end of the month.
Matt Foley, the son of Julie O'Rourke Foley ('83), has committed to play hockey at Yale. Congratulations to Matt, who comes from a family with deep MSJ ties, and who was the valedictorian of his class at another Catholic high school, Cathedral, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
MSJ Alum David Austin and His British Barn Finds
Health care, cars and motorcycles all feature prominently in David Austin's life. When David (MSJ Class of '86) is not working at his day job as a Sales Manager for Atherotech, he is scouring back roads and old barns around Saratoga Springs, NY for classic British cars and motorcycles to restore and sell. He started a website called British Barn Finds to promote his hobby 7 years ago. One of his projects, a 1972 Norton Commando motorcycle, was featured on television show, Naked Speed on the Velocity Channel. It received a full custom restoration to his exacting specifications. "Ever since I can remember, I've had a passion for cool, old cars. My mother likes to say that although I'm now older, I still like to play with little cars - especially English ones."
David likes to think that both his work and his hobby improves health and happiness. "I get a kick out of getting these old vehicles back on the road. People always smile, beep and wave as I drive by, so I know they enjoy them too."
Do you have information about an alum of MSJ, including you, your family, or your classmates that we can share with the MSJ community? Please email Kathy Bove at kbove@msjvermont.org.
