MSJ '14 Graduates were awarded 2.2MM in college scholarships, which averages to $142,280 per student! Saint Michael's College offers MSJ graduates enrolling at the College an automatic $20,000 scholarship ($5,000 per year). Up top five MSJ graduates per year are also eligible for two free years of tuition at the College of Saint Joseph!

John Valente Scholarship Established


An anonymous donor has stepped forward to establish a scholarship to help assist an MSJ student with his or her school tuition in honor of John Valente ('64), former MSJ School Board President and founder of the MSJ Annual Golf Tournament at Proctor-Pittsford. If you are interested in contributing to this scholarship, creating a new scholarship, or funding an existing scholarship to help make an MSJ education possible, please contact Kathy Bove at

Save the Date for The Seventh Annual Honor Our Past


This year's Honor Our Past event will be held at the Rutland Holiday Inn on July 23rd, with cocktail hour beginning at 6pm and dinner beginning at 7pm. The honorees are:
Diane Valente Liscinsky (MSJ '55), the receptionist and administrative secretary at MSJ for a number of decades. She was also a CKS and MSJ parent and, with her late husband Bob Liscinsky, owned the Carriage Room, a wonderful gathering place for friends of the Mount. Dr. William O'Rourke, Jr. (MSJ '49) was also an MSJ and CKS parent. He served on both the MSJ and CKS School Boards, organized the original Green Wave Golf tournaments, and was team physician for many years at MSJ football and basketball games. Father Richard Tinney (MSJ '57) has ministered to the people of Vermont as a priest for over fifty years! He was a member of the MSJ School Board and continues to be an active supporter of Catholic education. MSJ Women Athletes Honored!

Both the MSJ women's basketball and cheer teams were honored at the Vermont legislature for their championship accomplishments! Spring Sports Updates!
MSJ baseball is having another great season! The team currently stands at 7-2 and hopes to make it to their third state championship in recent years. The MSJ women's soccer team recently defeated the RHS soccer team in indoor play! The girls are looking forward to another successful soccer season in the fall.

National Football Foundation Honors MSJ Student

On Sunday, April 26th, Eric DiBlasio was honored at the National Football Foundation Dinner for the Vermont Chapter. The selection criteria was excellence in football, academics, and community service. Eric's nomination was submitted by Coach Hall, Chip Stevens, Marty McDonough, and Principal Sarah Fortier.

Host Families Needed! Consider hosting an MSJ international student for the 2015-2016 school year, and receive a $600 monthly stipend. Please contact Carrie Savage at csavage@msjvermont.org.

MSJ Welcomes Spring with a Dance for Junior High Students!

May 15th from 7pm-9:30pm in the MSJ Gym; $5 admission

MSJ is hosting its annual Junior High Spring Fling Dance for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the area! DJ Joey Nice will be spinning; door prizes and refreshments served. Students are required to be signed in and out by an adult. All parents are invited to attend a social in the MSJ library during the dance. Wiffle Ball Tournie Benefit

June 20th from 10am-1pm at St. Peter Field

 

Join the fun-loving MSJ Alumni and Friends for a hilarious Wiffle Ball Tournament - all are welcome to participate! Bring your family, and enjoy seeing old friends, playing a fun sport, hearing good tunes, and getting your fix of the famous "MSJ Booth" mouth-watering goodies at the field.

Paul Gallo Is Provider of the Year


Due to his lifelong service to the Rutland community, MSJ alum Paul Gallo ('81) was awarded the Provider of the Year Award. He and his wife Ingrid were honored and awarded at the annual Provider Scholarship Gala on May 9th. Gallo is an active member of the MSJ development committee, serves as vice president of the Paramount Theatre's board of directors, is a former trustee at Rutland Free Library, an organizer for the Creek Path, and president of Rutland Creative Economy. MSJ Class of 1955

will hold its 60th Class Reunion on Saturday, July 25th at MSJ and the Rutland Country Club. On July 24th, optional events that are not officially part of the reunion include golf and an informal evening gathering. MSJ Class of 1950 - 65-Year Reunion! 

Plans are underway for the 65th class reunion to be celebrated on Saturday, August 22nd. Plan to attend the 5:15pm Mass at Christ the King Church in honor of those classmates no longer with us, and then move on to the elegant buffet dinner at the Rutland Country Club on Grove Street. MSJ Class of 1965 Golden Graduation & 50th Reunion!

Friday, June 5th: Golden graduates are welcome to attend the 2015 MSJ commencement ceremony. They will be presented with Golden Diplomas. Following the graduation ceremony, the '65 class members will gather at the Rutland Country Club for hors d'oeuvres and drinks.

Saturday, June 6th: There will be a 4:30pm memorial mass for deceased classmates at the MSJ Chapel. At 6pm, there will be a reunion buffet dinner and dancing at the Rutland Country Club. Please contact Esterina Bergendahl at este562000@yahoo.com
