CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION

MSJ Women Are State Champs in Basketball!!

The 2014-2015 Mounties started the season with one goal: become State Champions. After months of hard work, dedication, and teamwork, on March 1st, 2015, this goal was achieved with a 34-29 victory over Proctor in the Division IV state basketball championship game! Special shout-out goes to Athletes of the Week Megan Eaton and Sally Hogan, who have stayed devoted to the team from freshman year all the way to senior year! Coach Elliott could not be prouder of these eleven girls - not just because of their athletic accomplishments, but also because of their dedication, passion, and commitment to MSJ and the MSJ community. They are true ambassadors and role models for what MSJ basketball represents!

MSJ Cheerleaders Reach the Top!

This group of ladies truly earned the title of State Champions! We had challenges along the way that would have kept other teams down, but the squad remained focused and driven to be their best. With each solid and successful stunt, their confidence grew, which made their performance even more "electric," said one of the judges. The title of State Champs was just the icing on the cake for everyone! Next up, they are very excited to have been invited to compete at New England's Championship on Saturday, March 21st. Although a team of 6 or 7 is limited in what they can do compared to the larger squads that they'll face at New England's, Coach Tedesco and her girls plan to attend and represent MSJ for the first time ever!

MSJ Boys Make Basketball Quarterfinals

The MSJ boys advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Division II playoffs for the third year in a row! They played a tough and seasoned team and ended two points behind their rivals during the final minutes. Coach Randall said that "even though the record could be perceived as a 'down' year," he is "incredibly proud," especially since many were playing for their third coach in four years, and only two returning players had previously seen a substantial number of minutes at the varsity level. He is very "confident that the team can build on the level of success we enjoyed this year, which should translate into more wins." We all look forward to building on this success next year!

ALUMNI AND FRIENDS

MSJ for Nolan

As the saying goes, "MSJ is not a building; MSJ is not a place; MSJ is a community." The MSJ community continues to rally around Nolan Alberty, age 4, who is battling Leukemia. For updates on Nolan, please visit his Facebook page. Nolan's mother, Mary (Crawford) Alberty, graduated from MSJ in 2002, and his aunts Sarah and Katharine graduated in 1995 and 2000, respectively. The women's basketball team designed t-shirts to show their support for Nolan, which he and his brother were thrilled to receive.
