Hundreds Attend MSJ Evening in Honor of Lenny Burke and Family

Thank you to those who attended the event in honor of Lenny Burke and the Burke family, and to our fantastic panelists! The commitment of the Burke family and this community 35 years ago has had an unbelievable and unforeseen impact both locally and nationally, and will continue to do so well into the future. The Mount is so very fortunate to have this inspiring family as a part of the MSJ community. If you would like to make a donation for the Lenny Burke Family Scholarship or the Lenny Burke Court, you may do so by sending it to MSJ at 127 Convent Avenue in Rutland or by donating online and indicating which cause you would like to support in the comment section. If you would like more information about purchasing Yvonne Daley's book, which tells this amazing story, click here. We understand that proceeds from this book will go to Lenny Burke's Farm and affiliated programs.

Basketball Teams Begin First Half of Season on a Roll

The women of MSJ are off to an amazing 8-0 start this season! The highlight thus far was a 50-45 win over Division 2 Springfield and then defeating Division 3 Twin Valley 47-40 to capture the Green Mountain Tournament Championship
. Great job, ladies! The men's teams have had a successful start to the season as well. The Varsity squad jumped up to a 5-2 record and a second place finish in the Granville Christmas tournament. Starting the second semester with the whole squad, the Mounties look to continue to learn and improve on running Coach Randall's system. Coach Randall said, "This first semester has been a learning experience, but I'm very proud of the attitude and effort of the team as a whole. As we continue navigate through a tough division, I think we will be poised to compete with the best in Division 2 by the end of the regular season."

ALUMNI AND FRIENDS

The Rutland Reader Recognizes MSJ Alumni

Our local paper certainly ended the year with a bang when writer Janelle Faignant exposed the thoughtful and devoted alumni of MSJ. One such alum, Tom Valente, has volunteered for multiple MSJ committees, including development, marketing, and diversity. He and the rest of the alumni volunteers firmly believe in giving back to their alma mater because "people made that effort for us, and now it's our turn to make that effort for the next generation and allow them to have that excellent experience and education."
