MSJ Principal Shares Vision for the Mount
Principal Fortier has truly put the "pal" back in "principal," as she has redefined her role at MSJ. Before she assumed her current position, Principal Fortier was a beloved teacher who was nominated for the "Unsung Hero" award for the last four out of five years. Even as principal, she continues to teach history and coach the women's soccer team because she believes that "[if] you don't know the kids, why be the principal of the school?" Check out this great article on our principal, a third generation Mountie who is bringing new energy to Convent Avenue!
MSJ Shadow Day
On November 11th, students who are in Junior High or who attend other schools are invited to attend MSJ for the entire day (or for part of the day) to find out what life is like at the Mount. Do you know someone who is interested in joining the MSJ community? If so, please encourage him or her to attend one of our shadow days. We are open to coordinating Shadow Days around students' schedules and can arrange one for any time during the year. For more information or to sign up, please view the MSJ website, or email Carrie Savage at csavage@msjvermont.org.
MSJ and CKS Students Get Artsy for the 2014 Halloween Parade
In a great joint effort to showcase the creative and artistic talents of students at Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Christ the King School, the two schools put together a fantastic Wizard of Oz-themed float for this year's Rutland Halloween Parade! Special thanks to Mountie Sally Hogan ('15) and her family, as well as Eileen Gombosi, CKS art teacher!

Third Generation Mountie Sophomore Scores 50th Goal
Sophomore Bryn McClellan, a third generation Mountie, scored her 50th goal (as well as her 51st and 52nd goals) in a game against Long Trial! McClellan is the daughter of Greg ('87) and Sara McClellan and the granddaughter of Greg ('60) and Carol (Bove) McClellan ('62) and Jack and Barbara Barrett.
Women's Soccer Team Completes Another Great Season
Congratulations to the MSJ women's soccer team on another fantastic season! They only dropped two games during the regular season and then made it to the state semifinals before falling to the eventual champion. They have established MSJ women's soccer as a perennial powerhouse and are now turning their attention to Mountie basketball. Last year's women's basketball team made it all the way to the state championship, and only two members of last year's team graduated!
MSJ Cross-Country Looks toward Bright Future
The cross-country team completed a successful season under head coach Matt Potter. The members of the term included two veterans, Spencer Potter and Darius Brown, as well as Josh Williams, and three international students who were first-time runners: Sharon Chen, Rain He, and Louie Li. MSJ hosted the MVL "C" division championships at the College of Saint Joseph. Although the team was a bit hampered by injuries, three team members finished in the top eleven finishers, and those three were also nominated for all-MVL honors. Cross-country at MSJ has a bright future: Ten runners from Christ the King School joined the MSJ team for the majority of its practices and meets. The CKS team is coached by alum Megan Blais ('13), who is currently pursuing a nursing degree.
