The Catholic School Advantage

group-school-project.jpg Many parents choose Catholic school education for their children because of its high academic standards, safety and additional focus on character and values. According to the University of Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE), "Students in Catholic and other private schools demonstrate higher academic achievement than students from similar backgrounds in public schools." What Is Happening In Science: A Look Inside Ms. Abatiell's Classroom

In this lab, students examined

many characteristics of an unborn mammal--the fetal pig. Fetal pigs are commonly used for classroom dissections because pigs, like humans, are mammals and therefore share many common characteristics. Dissection helps students to get a 3-dimensional picture of how all the systems fit together. In this lab, students also explored the texture of many organs that make up the pig's vital organs systems. Students examined the external

anatomy, oral cavity, digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, urogenital system, and nervous system of the fetal pig.
