Irene Aftermath with Mendon and MSJ

Sometimes theater and real life intersects in interesting ways. Last April, MSJ performed a play about tropical storm Irene. The characters and words were from Vermonters who struggled with the flooding and told their stories to the Vermont Folk Life "story circles." One of those stories was from Todd Keehan and Josie Delepine who live in the old "Hubenet" home right on Route 4 in Mendon. They lost six acres of their front yard, all their antique raspberries from the Colonel Ripley era and were stranded in their yard without a bridge, their link to Route 4. That April the MSJ cast sent them some money from a benefit performance to replenish the raspberry bushes, and on Monday, October 28, six of them returned to help with planning of trees along Todd and Josie's front yard, slowly being restored from a rubbly field of stone, to a green yard once again.  The damages of Irene, portrayed on stage , were restored in real time by a company of Shoestring Theater students.

Pictured are Nick Croff, Jared Bove, Nicole Bruso and Grace Giancola.  Missing for the picture are Emmalee Smith and Spencer Potter.

Women's Soccer Thrives at MSJ
Congratulations to the women's soccer team on a great season! They made it to the semifinals before falling to the eventual state champion by one goal, making their record on the year 14-1-2! Look for this young team to continue their success next year!
Sarah Fortier was named Coach of the Year in the Marble Valley League D Division this year!
