SPARK YOUR WINTER BLUES DANCE MARCH 16TH

The Spark Your Winter Blues Dance and Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, March 16th from 7 to 11pm at the Holiday Inn in Rutland. All adults are welcome to attend the event, which will benefit Mount St. Joseph Academy and Christ the King School. Tickets are only $15 per person and may be purchased from CKS and MSJ students, at the CKS and MSJ offices, or at the door on the night of the event.  Light refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. Spark Your Winter Blues has become an annual event that aims to provide a fun-filled evening and a chance to leave the winter blues behind. It is made possible by talented musicians with strong connections to the Rutland region --and by generous members of the community and alumni of the schools. Please call Lori Elliott (345-2205) or Colleen Diezel (725-8060) for tickets, information, or to donate an item for the silent auction.

MSJ'S ONE-ACT PLAY "IRENE" PUBLIC PERFORMANCE APRIL 3RD

MSJ's winter one act play, "Irene,"  written by director Jennifer Bagley, is based on the "story circle" accounts by Vermonters about their experiences with tropical storm Irene in 2011.  Vermont Folklife visited many of the hardest hit towns after Irene, and using their oral history sound equipment, recorded the eye witness narratives in the hardest hit towns throughout the state. MSJ's play is based on accounts mainly from Mendon and Rochester, and tells the story through the actual words of Vermonters how the state reacted to and recovered from the devastation. The play will be one of five high school one acts performed at MSJ at the drama festival they are hosting on Saturday, March 23rd. A public evening performance is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd, where we invite a wide range of local Vermonters who were so instrumental in the recovery efforts.
