Healthcare Reform

Several websites are providing state-by-state information on implementation of the Affordable Care Act components. Kids Well provides a map every Tuesday with updates from the states. State Refor(u)m provides periodic updates in tabular format.

In an effort to connect California's Public Mental Health System with information and resources on issues related to the Implementation of Healthcare Reform, California Institute for Mental Health (CiMH) is producing e-newsletters entitled "Healthcare Reform Issues: At A Glance." (At A Glance). At A Glance highlights California-specific activities related to Healthcare Reform implementation, links to informative websites, publications, and editorials that examine the possible impact of Healthcare Reform on our state and on the public mental health system.

Covered California became the first state-based exchange in the nation to require Qualified Heath Plans sold though Covered California to offer standard benefits for each of the "metal tiers" plans will offer. With these standard benefit designs, consumers will be able to make apples to apples comparisons.

Other Things Advocates Need to Know

"February's revenues came within a percentage point of estimates," said California State Controller John Chiang this morning. "Healthy revenues, along with recovering home prices, a steep drop in foreclosures, and increased car sales are harbingers of a California economy that is starting to warm-up."
