Armchair advocacy is drawing to a close. Local affiliates will soon be sent lists of their new legislators. It is time to schedule visits in the capitol and in the districts to talk about NAMI and the need to protect public mental health funding, to expand access to mental health coverage, and to ensure that effective mental health services are available.

Inaugural NAMI Bikes a Huge Success, Combining Fun with Purpose

Riders, speakers and volunteers gathered in Davis, Saturday, Nov,. 10, at the inaugural NAMI Bikes of Northern California.

Registration started at 7:00 a.m. on a crisp and chilly morning, but the 37 riders participating turned out in good spirits. This anti-stigma ride started from the beautiful University of Davis campus and offered three different choices of a 12, 25 and 50 mile route that took our riders through the beautiful towns of Davis and Winters. The more seasoned riders rode to Lake Berryessa and then back to the UC Davis campus to celebrate.

Many riders chose a casual pace that allowed them to meet and network together.

The March 1, 2013, deadline is fast approaching and the campaign is making one last, big push to help seniors and other federal benefit check recipients make the switch to an electronic payment method before time runs out.
