Practically limitless possibilities |

I am so pleased to be coming to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax this summer. From the moment I became aware that the position of Director of Music & Arts would be available, I suspected it would be a good fit for me. The more I found out about UUCF, the stronger that belief became, and now I'm looking forward to not only beginning my work with you, but also to getting to know all of you personally, as well.
I grew up in Poland, but my family and I moved to the US when I was still quite young. I've loved music ever since I can remember, and even now I can hardly think of a kind of music that doesn't interest and move me (I shared some of my guilty pleasures with the search committee, so I'll invite you to share some of yours when we meet!). I have also loved working in theater and opera and I'm eager to use those skills to enhance worship and life at UUCF.
After holding several church positions since I was 19, I came to the Unitarian Universalist Society: East in 2007, and it didn't take long to understand that I could never serve any church other than a UU congregation. The love, openness, acceptance and sense of responsibility embodied in the Seven Principles are values I strongly identify with, but it certainly doesn't end there. I also love working in an environment that allows for so much freedom and creativity in all elements of worship, but especially the music. One of the reasons I so enjoy my work is that the possibilities are practically limitless.
Moving to Northern Virginia is going to be quite a change for me, but I am excited for the opportunity to live in such a thriving area. I have made many visits to the DC area in the past, and I have several friends who are nearby as well. I have a loving community of friends and family in the Northeast, and you'll be seeing them at UUCF regularly. Moreover, I'm excited to see new connections grow for me and between those who are near and dear to me now and those who will become so.
With a sense of appreciation and excitement,
Pawel Jura
