Jul. 13 worship service, RE and ballpoint pen collection
10 a.m., Oakton Elementary School

AJ Bennett
|
AJ Bennett will deliver Sunday's sermon, Articulating Our Pluralism, in the Oakton Elementary auditorium. The text of our Seven Principles and Six Sources of Unitarian Universalism draws on "many sources" and affirms that we are "grateful for the religious pluralism [that] enriches and ennobles our faith." However, this implied pluralism is not clearly defined anywhere in our Unitarian Universalist Association covenant. How might we articulate it, both to the world and to each other? And what might a greater focus on religious pluralism mean for our movement?
Also at Sunday's service, the 2s & 3s Summer RE class will collect new or used ballpoint pens for Pens for Kids International, a group that sends pens to classrooms in Africa. Every single pen counts; if each congregant brings just one ballpoint pen, we will meet our goal! Please make sure the pens work before you bring them in to donate.
K-Grade 6 begin in the auditorium for Together Time. Preschool and HS begin in classrooms. RE classes for age 2 through rising Grade 12 continue through Aug. 24. Follow the signs to the classrooms for your child's age group. Nursery will be in Room 114.
