Discovering our superpowers
 | Parish Minister Rev. Mary Katherine Morn
|
During graduation season last year I made a practice of reading and listening to commencement addresses. These addresses are a little like the ultimate sermons. The one I liked the most (not the best organized or delivered) was by Joss Whedon. What I loved was his quirky sense of humor and his no-nonsense message about life's contradictions. Look what's happening!
Our summer of Reach improvement projects included a major paint job this past week. When you come to services this weekend, you'll notice fresh coats in the Commons, Kitchen, Music Room, Nursery and hallways, with striking blue accent walls in the Music Room and Nursery.
Look for a new coat of paint in our beautiful Sanctuary in September.

Marking transitions with water
Water Communion services this weekend
 |
Summer Minister John Monroe
|
Summer is a time of travels and new routines. Now, as fall approaches, we prepare ourselves for a return to familiar patterns. As a community, we mark this time of transition with a water communion. Bring a small amount of water that comes from (or represents) a place you have been, whether in a distant land or close to home. During the service, we each will bring our water forward and pour it into one large bowl, a symbol of the way in which we share our experiences when we gather together at summer's end. I'm looking forward to sharing this annual tradition with you. John |
