Sat., Aug. 24, 2013
Program runs 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March starts at noon
Meet at UUCF at 9:30 a.m. to carpool to Vienna Metro
Gathering with other UUs on north side of Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool
Fifty years after the March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, inequities and poverty still plaque our country.
Join UUs from around the region and nation to commemorate the March's 50th anniversary and stand together against the recent attack on voter rights and racial profiling, and to continue raising awareness of unemployment, poverty, gun violence, immigration, LGBTQ rights and other critical issues affecting our nation.
Some UUCFers are planning to meet at UUCF at 9:30 a.m., to carpool to Vienna Metro, others will get to the Mall earlier. However you get there, UUs from our region are gathering at the middle of the north side of the Reflecting Pool. Look for the large yellow "Standing on the Side of Love" banner. Please let Bob Tripp know if you plan to attend. For information on related programs at All Souls Church Unitarian in DC, click here.

Head to the mountains!
Join almost 50 UUCFers for a day (or three??) in Shenandoah National Park. The UUCF planned activities on Sunday include a 2 p.m. hike and a "Bring Your Own S'mores" campfire that night.
On the slightly more informal side, several families are planning to spend most of that weekend camping or staying in the Big Meadows Lodge. Let Katherine Riddle know if you'd like to join us for the hike or want lodging information. Every family or individual participating in the UUCF activities needs to sign a release in advance.
