Tip of the Month
Quick-Use Instructions for Otoacoustic Emissions Equipment

For individuals in early care and education settings, becoming comfortable with Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) screening equipment can be one of the most intimidating aspects of learning to conduct hearing screenings.  To help simplify and streamline the learning process, we've created some new resources to share in the New Year!

We've expanded our Quick Use Instructions page to include  brand-specific video tutorials as well as printed directions.  Each video focuses on one brand of screening equipment and covers essential information, including:
  • Equipment parts and assembly (power source, screening unit, probe, probe covers)
  • Button push sequence to initiate screening
  • Common error messages
  • Basic care and maintenance
An accompanying set of instructions can also be printed and kept with the equipment for easy reference.

For more comprehensive instructional tutorials on implementing OAE screening with young children, see our Get Started & Implement OAE Screening page
