Tip of the Month
Speak Out About Hearing Screening

As a participant in the Early Childhood Hearing Outreach (ECHO) Initiative, you are ahead of the curve in conducting quality hearing screening with infants and toddlers.  Your unique expertise in Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) screening brings with it a positive opportunity and responsibility to share what you know with other early care and education providers who also need to learn to provide this essential, evidence-based screening to the young children they serve.

To help you inform colleagues about your hearing screening efforts, the goals of the ECHO Initiative, and the tools that are available to all who are learning to conduct hearing screening with young children, we have posted a series of colorful "handouts" on  the KidsHearing.org "Spread the Word" web page.   Created in a convenient PDF format, these can be e-mailed to others or printed and disseminated during meetings or presentations.  The handouts introduce a range of topics:

Letting others know about the investment you have made in being a part of the ECHO and implementing quality hearing screening practices can have a far-reaching, positive effect beyond the children and families you serve directly.
