BSEL Executive Director Abby Fifer Mandell and BSEL Scholar Scott Fairbanks ('13) presented a paper at the 2015 VentureWell Open, "Design Thinking and Co-Creation at the Base of the Pyramid: The Social Innovation Design Lab Course at the University of Southern California."
BSEL Founding Director Adlai Wertman was interviewed for the University of Pennsylvania's "Knowledge@Wharton" radio show to discuss religious freedom laws that have been so controversial in Indiana and Arkansas.Design for America USC, a student-run social impact design studio founded by Scholar Geronimo Ramos ('15), Scholar Sara Yang ('16) and Robby Sachs ('15), was recently featured on the Art Center College of Design's designmatters blog.
BSEL Scholar Jamie Zamora ('15) received her certification as a LEED Green Associate, having demonstrated an understanding of the most current green building principles and practices.
Senior Fellow Paul Vandeventer, president and CEO of Community Partners, helped lead a delegation of Los Angeles professionals to Washington, D.C., where they educated legislators about the impact and importance of foundation giving in their communities as part of the Southern California Grantmakers Public Policy outreach.
On April 6, Senior Fellow Tara Roth, president of the Goldhirsh Foundation, spoke at the USC Iovine and Young Academy's Innovator's Forum and Innovator's Roundtable classes.
On April 9, BSEL Executive Director Abby Fifer Mandell was a panelist at the "Creative Consumption" event moderated by Sir Ken Robinson and presented by Imaginese Free Productions at the Laemmle Royal Theater. On April 11, Abby spoke at the Working Californians Social Innovation Summit at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.
