The Freedom Bakery is a Glasgow-based social enterprise that aims to reduce recidivism by offering training and employment to ex-convicts.

My aim has been to substitute protest for pragmatism; the Freedom Bakery is very much a manifestation of this philosophy. As social entrepreneurs we have the ability to lead by example and steer policy more progressively by solving social and environmental concerns through our enterprises.

BSEL Scholar Geronimo Ramos (B.S. '15) co-founded Elite Home Care Services, LLC, a family-run business that offers private home care to seniors in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The second annual USC Chalk the Block, founded by BSEL Scholar Harleen Marwah (B.S./M.S. '15), took place on February 21. Chalk the Block invites local youth to participate in a one-day art competition held on campus.

Senior Fellow Paul Polizzotto and CBS EcoMedia have launched Viewers to Volunteers (V2V), an innovative digital platform for driving social impact that gives everyone the power to give back to the causes they care about -- for free!

Congratulations to Senior Fellow Shivani Siroya, whose social enterprise, InVenture, was named one of "The World's 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2015" by Fast Company.

Senior Fellow Laura Chapman Rubbo has been appointed chair of the Corporate Responsibility Committee for the United States Council for International Business, an international trade association comprising many of the country's largest multinational companies.

Senior Fellow Tara Rothpresident of the Goldhirsh Foundation, wrote "Crowdsourcing: Practical Insights for Entrepreneurs, Investors and Philanthropists," featured on the Skoll World Forum. Tara also spoke at the Australian Consulate of Los Angeles for International Women's Day on March 8.
