SBL Senior Fellow Laura Rubbo presented at the American Apparel & Footwear Association's Social Responsibility Committee in July on implementing an ethical sourcing program in a licensing business.  

 

On Wednesday August 22nd, SBL Senior Fellow Paul Polizzotto and Fellow Ashkun Zaker (MBA '12) will unveil Malibu Creek State Park's new free public electric car charging stations, made possible by Chevrolet's participation in the EcoAd Program from CBS EcoMedia.   

 

Congratulations to SBL Scholar Harleen Marwah (B.S. '15) who was selected as a Hesselbein Global Fellow this summer. As a Fellow, she participated in a four-day leadership and mentoring experience at the University of Pittsburgh.

SBL Scholar Claire Marsh (B.A. '13) is now working in Nicaragua for Global Brigades, where she is expanding the organizations' fundraising and organizational management platform, empowered.org.

SBL Senior Fellow Fran Seegull will be teaching a new Marshall MBA course this fall, on Investing in Impact Ventures. She will be speaking at SOCAP in San Francisco in September on panels titled: "Impact Investing in 2013: The State of the Field", "A Capital Story: Leveraging Resources Across the Spectrum", and "Democratizing Access to Impact Investing Through Infrastructure and Product Development."  

Society and Business Fellow Jennifer May (MBA '13) is manager of the LEAP Symposium, a national gathering of 100 thought leaders working at the intersection of design and social innovation to map the emerging career pathways for designers in the social innovation space. LEAP is curated by SBL Senior Fellow Mariana Amatullo, Vice President of Designmatters.  

 

SBL Senior Fellow Paul Vandeventer, President & CEO of Community Partners, has been invited by Southern California Grantmakers to kick off SCG's annual day-long orientation for new grantmaking foundation professional staff with an interactive talk focusing on the role of "Foundations as Catalysts in the Civic Landscape" this coming October 8, 2013.

Congratulations to Society and Business Fellow Paul Moore (MBA PM '14) who was recently accepted into Southern California Grantmakers Senior Peer to Peer network which is designed to strengthen senior leaders in philanthropy in order to advance the field.

The non-profit organization Venture for America places recent college graduates with start-up companies in eight struggling U.S. cities. A recent New York Times article reports that by August, 108 fellows will be working at 70 companies as part of the two-year fellowship program.
