ProSocial, the social action consulting firm founded by SBL Senior Fellow Meredith Blake, has been selected to be one of ten recipients of the Grand Challenges Exploration by the Gates Foundation.

SBL Senior Fellow René Jones will be speaking at the Cause Marketing Forum in May.
 
SBL Senior Fellow Fran Seegull is wrapping up her first semester of teaching a new undergraduate course at the USC Marshall School of Business called Venture Investing for Impact. Last month, she lectured at the Harvard Business School's Social Enterprise Club on Impact Investing, was a panelist for Platforms to Entry: Increasing Accessibility to Impact Investing at the Impact Investing Summit, and moderated at the Jewish Funders Network Annual Conference.
 
SBL Senior Fellow and Executive Director of Climate Resolve, Jonathan Parfrey, led a conference last month entitled Hot City, Cool Roofs at City Hall, featuring Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as the keynote speaker.
 
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, of which SBL Senior Fellow Trish Karlin is the Vice President, was a proud supporter of the recent case study that appears to have cured a Mississippi baby of the AIDS virus. The lead author of the study was Dr. Deborah Persaud, an Elizabeth Glaser Scientist Award Winner. Dr. Persaud paid special tribute to the role of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation in her success in the study.

EcoMedia, founded by SBL Senior Fellow Paul Polizzotto, has recently teamed with UnitedHealthcare to rehabilitate parks and install Fitness Zones in Miami and Atlanta, and will also be renovating a medical center in South Bronx. Learn more about CBS EcoMedia's projects.

SBL Senior Fellow Laura Rubbo was recently named in Triple Pundit's "35 Female CSR Leaders You've (Possilbly) Never Heard Of". Last month, she presented at the Intertek Ethical Sourcing Forum in New York.

Society and Business Fellow Jyoti Guar (MBA '11) has accepted a full-time Senior Portfolio Associate position with the Clinton Foundation, following her year in the Clinton-Orfalea Fellowship Program. 

Society and Business Fellows Dara Pastor (MBA '14), Lauren Wagman (MBA '14)Stephanie Schwartz (MBA '14) and their two teammates advanced to the regional finals of the 4th Annual Hultz Prize, the world's largest student competition and crowdsourcing platform for social good.

The Acumen Fund is now offering Acumen Leadership Essentials, a free online course offered to groups interested in expanding their knowledge in six modules, including How to Do Good, Design Thinking and Adaptive Leadership.

 

The recently released  2012 Edelman's Good Purpose Report  "explores consumer attitudes around social purpose, including their commitment to specific societal issues and their expectations of brands and corporations." The report claims that 87% of people globally believe that business should place at least equal weight on business and society.
