NPR News Collaborative Series: School Money
map of Oklahoma
After more than six months of planning and reporting, on Monday the NPR Ed Team and 20 local station reporters launched an extensive series on how public schools are funded. Over the next three weeks, the nationwide collaboration will explore the different strategies in different states and why many schools are failing to meet the needs of their most vulnerable students. The series kicked off using this interactive map of district-by-district per-pupil spending, the conversation on Twitter is at #schoolmoney, and the individual reports can be found in the Education section at KGOU.org.

Spring "Campaign" Update: The Yesses Have It?
voting results
Did someone stuff the ballot box? Will either "candidate" demand a recount? Our Spring "Campaign" had some surprising results, but a great deal of support for KGOU! The number of individual donations and pledges to KGOU stands at 1206 and still counting, and we are confident we're in good shape to meet the challenges ahead. If you haven't contributed yet, it's not too late to give with our online form or by calling (405) 325-5468 during office hours.

We have many people to thank, from those who gave their financial support to our wonderful phone volunteers, to the restaurants who donated food to feed them, Ingrid's Kitchen, Sooner Legends and Gaberino's Homestyle Italian Restaurant. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

StoryCorps founder Dave Isay's new book Callings: The Purpose and Passion of Work is a collection of inspiring stories from the heart of the American workforce. Some found their paths at a very young age, others later in life; some overcame great odds or upturned their lives in order to pursue what matters to them. Many of their stories have never been broadcast or published by StoryCorps until now. Get more details from the publisher.
