On Being: Conversation with Black Lives Matter Co-founder
Krista Tippett
This week's episode of On Being is an exceptional one, featuring one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter, Patrisse Cullors. In front of an invited audience of social change and nonprofit leaders, host Krista Tippett leads a conversation between Cullors and Dr. Robert Ross, a physician and public health leader, about the movement and this moment in time -- its potential for courage and creativity, its seeds in trauma and resilience, and its possibility for our growth as individuals and community. Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. or Sunday at 6 a.m. for this timely conversation, or listen from the On Being archives following the broadcast.
KGOU's Annual Financial Audit Completed
Each year, KGOU undergoes a financial audit by an independent auditing firm. It's required by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in order to receive our annual community service grant, but it also reflects our commitment to transparency in our financial practices.

To summarize, Fiscal Year 2015 was a good one for KGOU. It took more to operate the station, 2.8 percent more in expenses, but revenues were able to keep pace, with private giving increasing by almost one percent overall, and funding from individual donors increasing by 3.8 percent. The average American can expect to live for 78.8 years, and the human lifespan has seen dramatic increases in the last few centuries. But what about the ethical and social consequences of radically increasing lifespans? Should we accept our mortality, or should we pursue a cure for aging? The debate teams for Intelligence Squared ponder this mortal coil Sunday, Feb. 21 at 12 noon on this week's Sunday Radio Matinee.
