Diane Rehm Announces Retirement in 2016
Diane Rehm at the mic
After more than 30 years on the air, Diane Rehm will leave her eponymous radio show next year. Diane says she intends to stay on through the 2016 election, hoping to offer civil discourse about and with the presidential candidates leading up to Election Day. The Washington Post and NPR have interviews detailing Diane's future plans.

What's next for stations, like KGOU, that carry The Diane Rehm Show? It's too soon to know. We'll be weighing all options -- stay tuned!

This season's holidays offer great inspiration for special programming, and KGOU will be serving up plenty! From proper comportment as a guest, to food, to holiday music, to old and new favorite stories, our Special Programs page has all the details. One you won't want to miss is Pink Martini's Joy to the World -- All Things Considered host Ari Shapiro joins the band singing a Latin Hanukkah favorite! The NPR newsmagazines and the BBC will be looking back at the news of the year and looking forward to 2016's big stories, too.

A Few Programming Changes Coming
Reveal
KGOU's broadcast schedule will change slightly in 2016, bringing Reveal into a weekly time slot on Sunday mornings at 7 a.m. KGOU has been carrying Reveal each month among the Sunday Radio Matinee offerings. Its producers, the Center for Investigative Reporting and PRX, will begin offering weekly shows in January.

KGOU is introducing a new program, Current Conversations, on Mondays at 11 a.m., produced by the University of Oklahoma Outreach, Video and Media Services with host Robert Con Davis-Undiano, editor of World Literature Today. Oklahoma Voices will move to a half-hour format Mondays at 11:30 a.m. Coming up on Oklahoma Voices as we begin the new year is a 5-part series called 'Race Matters' with host Merleyn Bell.

NPR Music's Tiny Desk Contest Returns
NPR Music Tiny Desk Contest
NPR Music is bringing back the Tiny Desk contest, asking unknown bands and musicians all over the country to film themselves performing one song at a desk of their own choosing. The contest is again sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Company, and the winner will play NPR's famous Tiny Desk in Washington, D.C. and other venues across the country. Would-be contestants can start making their videos now; rules and an introductory video can be found at NPR.org. This could be someone's big break!
