Special Program: The World War I Living History Project
Tony Pierro, as a recruit and in 2006
A WWI vet, 1918 and 2006
In 2006, the original 4.5 million doughboys of World War I had shrunk to a mere handful of veterans, aged 105 to 113. The World War I Living History Project interviewed the last 10 soldiers of the "war to end all wars." The award-winning program was hosted by Walter Cronkite.

In honor of Veteran's Day, KGOU will revisit The World War I Living History Project highlighting the voices of the last 10 surviving American veterans in a centenary re-airing of the program. Listen to this two-hour special on Monday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Do you have a car that's not good for anything -- except a tax deduction? This is the time when many people are finalizing their charitable donations for the calendar year, and if you're thinking about donating a vehicle before Dec. 31, we've got just the thing. Even if it's not as old as this 1948 Jeep Willys donated to KPLU in Seattle, your junker could help KGOU pay for programs. Find answers to your questions or start the donation process with Car Talk's Vehicle Donation Services.
Reveal: A Mountain of Mistreatment
Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center, a facility nestled in the wooded foothills of New Hampshire's White Mountains, treated people with severe disabilities, often as the last resort for families seeking care for their loved ones.

For the owners, it was a lucrative business, but patients suffered.

Reveal teams up with New Hampshire Public Radio reporter Jack Rodolico to uncover 40 years of alleged abuse and neglect and to expose how for-profit rehab centers thrive on public dollars with little oversight. Tune in for Reveal on KGOU's Sunday Radio Matinee on Nov. 8 at 12 noon.

Brazilian 'Guardians of the Forest'
The United Nations is trying to get nearly 200 countries to agree on a plan to fight global warming, leading up to a U.N. summit Nov. 30 in Paris. NPR and local stations have an ambitious coverage plan to explain the consequences of the Paris Climate Change Conference on air, online and across beats -- science, business, politics.

Coverage includes a five-part series in the Amazon with South America correspondent Lourdes Garcia Navarro to understand how deforestation happens and why this fragile rain-forest ecosystem could be at a tipping point because of it.
