What better soundtrack to a long, lazy holiday weekend than an outdoor music festival? KGOU has two lined up for the Labor Day weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, it's blues and jazz highlights from the recent Jazz in June festival right here in Norman. Then Sunday afternoon, we'll broadcast highlights of this year's Newport Folk Festival (entire sets available on demand from NPR Music). Broadcast times and other details are on our Special Programs page.

Where Do You KGOU? Tell Us In Sound
My KGOU Where are you and what are the other tasks you're doing while listening to KGOU? We'd like to hear! With the prevalence of smartphones with recording capability, it's pretty easy to capture an audio "snapshot" of your listening. We've got step-by-step instructions to help. Send us your sound and we'll send you a new limited-edition t-shirt in appreciation. So where do you KGOU?
Reveal: Inside America's Coldest Cases
unmarked pauper's graves
Unmarked graves
Imagine that your loved one went missing and you never found out what happened to him or her. According to authorities, there are more than 10,000 unidentified bodies in the United States -- tucked away in morgues or buried in paupers' graves.  Reveal looks into "cold" cases of John and Jane Doe, and examines how disorganization and indifference on the part of state and local authorities can contribute to the problem. Reveal is KGOU's Sunday Radio Matinee Sept. 6 at noon.
Morning Edition Book Club Selects Third Book Sept. 15
Book Club Pick - Morning Edition Heads up, readers! The third book selection for Morning Edition's Book Club will be announced to listeners on Tuesday, Sept. 15. NPR's guest curator (an author) has chosen the next book, and NPR's social media sites will be discussing it for about a month after the announcement. Finally, the author of the selected book will be on Morning Edition later this fall for an on-air discussion. Tune in Sept. 15 to see which book is chosen!
Help KGOU Test A New Audio Stream Player
new player on a mobile phone If you listen to KGOU's live audio stream, you might have noticed we launched a new player on Aug. 18. The new player, designed by NPR Digital Services, is designed to make listening easier on mobile phones, and to allow the added feature of listening and browsing through pages on our website at the same time. We're asking for feedback. By our own experience we know the player doesn't work well with our anti-virus software here on campus.

On a related -- but not really -- note: we've experienced some outages with our stream lately, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. This is a server problem and is not related to the new player. We hope to get it straightened out soon. If you find that the stream is not working, please try our backup options.
