All Things Considered Visits Cuba
The U.S. government has high hopes that Cuba's private sector will be an engine of reform for the island nation. But will the rules that the Cuban government has set out for the private sector permit or prevent that reform from occurring? All Things Considered host Robert Siegel traveled to Cuba with NPR blogger Eyder Peralta and producer Theo Balcomb to find out. Their reports are tentatively set to begin next week. Look for more in NPR's Parallels international blog and photos on the On the Road Tumblr.

A New Approach to Spring Fundraising: It's Time to Give
We know you care about KGOU and understand that fundraising is essential to our continued success. We also know that if we can shorten KGOU's on-air spring fundraising, you can enjoy even more of the service you care about. We could spend a week reminding you how much KGOU enriches your life -- and interrupt some of that enrichment in the process. Is there another way to reach our fundraising goal? We'd like to try something new this spring, and we need your help to do it. Our premise is simple: the drive ends when we reach $180,000, whether that's next week or at the end of a traditional fundraising drive. That means now is the time to give! Can we shave off a day or two of full-on fundraising? If you need to review the reasons for supporting KGOU, look over our Membership Info page. Then donate online or mail in your renewal. Together, we can do this! Call for Volunteers When (or if!) we begin interrupting programs for the traditional fundraising drive, we'll need some phone volunteers. If you can spare a couple of hours to help, sign up here.

In Memoriam: Jazz Host Bob Parlocha
Bob Parlocha, host of Jazz with Bob Parlocha on KGOU via WFMT's Jazz Network, died unexpectedly on the afternoon of March 16. Bob had been rehabilitating from an illness over the past year; his cause of death was a heart attack. In addition to hosting the Jazz Network, which was broadcast on scores of stations, Bob was a tenor and soprano saxophone player and also a passionate gourmet cook. If you'd like to leave a comment about Bob, WFMT is receiving them on behalf of Bob's family and colleagues. As for the future of the jazz show, archived episodes will continue for now, with the addition of guest hosts.

The app walks users through the interview experience, providing tools for users to prepare questions, find the right environment for a conversation, record high-quality audio and share the finished product with friends, family and future generations. Learn more or be among the first to download the beta version of the app.
