Coverage Plans for Elections, Results
As election day approaches, KGOU has resources for voters wanting more information about candidates for statewide offices. Kate Carlton Greer followed gubernatorial candidates Mary Fallin and Joe Dorman for a day in each campaign; listen for those reports next week.

In the state superintendent's race, KGOU will have a special live broadcast of a debate between Joy Hofmeister and John Cox on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. KGOU.org has the audio of a previous debate between the two, and there's much more election coverage in our archives. We're also planning a panel discussion led by OU Political Science professor Keith Gaddie, to be broadcast at a special time on Monday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.

podium with bunting After the polls close on Nov. 4, KGOU and NPR team up to bring you results from local, state and national perspectives. NPR's Robert Siegel and Melissa Block will anchor, with Ron Elving, Mara Liasson, polling experts and Congressional correspondents providing analysis on key races. Special coverage airs from 7 p.m. to midnight, and for the true political junkie, follow along on the NPR Politics Tumblr.

We'll have updates on Oklahoma elections throughout the evening, from OETA's coverage. Our local reporters will be at candidates' watch parties and providing analysis on OETA.

Fall Membership Drive: Close to Goal!
Kacey and Michael Russell KGOU's fall membership drive is just a few thousand dollars away from reaching the goal of $200,000 pledged. After the on-air drive ended last Friday, pledges have continued to come in, and the current total is $196,370 pledged.

A big "thank you" goes to all of our phone volunteers, and to Sooner Legend's, Ingrid's Kitchen, Gaberino's Homestyle Italian Restaurant, and McNellie's Abner Ale House, and to every member who made a financial contribution.

It's not too late -- call (405) 325-5468 or use our new online donation form and put KGOU over the top!

World Views: Humanitarians in the Mideast
Imad Enchassi Oklahoma City imam Imad Enchassi grew up in refugee camps in Lebanon, and as a child witnessed the massacre of thousands of his fellow Palestinians. He gives credit to the Red Cross for his survival, and says the help he received shaped his desire to help others.

World Views host Suzette Grillot talks with Dr. Enchassi and political scientist Mohamed Daadoui about humanitarian work in the Middle East on Friday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m.

Look At This: Portraits of Homeless Vets
woman In September, NPR correspondent Claire O'Neill and photographer David Gilkey set up a makeshift portrait studio at a San Diego event for homeless veterans called Stand Down. They wanted to put faces on the term "homeless veterans" and to tell their stories. You can hear from some of the vets in this audio report, but don't miss the portraits themselves.

Jazz Night in America = Radio + Video

That's what the new program Jazz Night in America is all about.
