KGOU's Tornado Project Investigates Aid Funds
 KGOU's Oklahoma Tornado Project has partnered with Oklahoma Watch for a series of investigative reports on federal funding coming into Oklahoma to aid victims of the May 2013 storms. Those reports are available from the KGOU archives, in case you missed any. Don't miss the final reports in the series, coming up next week, beginning on Monday, July 28 during Morning Edition. These final reports pertain to aid from the Small Business Administration to individuals and businesses claiming damage from the storms and some surprising findings.

Rehm, Tippett Receive National Humanities Medal
 Diane Rehm, host of The Diane Rehm Show, and Krista Tippett, host of On Being, have been named recipients of 2013 National Humanities Medals, to be presented by President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday, July 28.  The National Humanities Medal honors individuals or groups whose work has "deepened the nation's understanding of the humanities, broadened our citizens' engagement with the humanities, or helped preserve and expand Americans' access to important resources in the humanities". Recipients are selected by the President in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Humanities. See the other honorees and more about the medal.

Oklahoma Voices: 2013 OKC Storytelling Festival
 Storytelling is at the core of the human experience; it's how we convey who we are, how we feel, and why we do the things we do. For over 30 years, the Oklahoma City Storytelling Festival has served to entertain and enlighten the public on the art of professional storytelling. Monday on Oklahoma Voices, KGOU will have highlights of the 2013 event, with stories from Patrick Ball, Judith Black, and Barbara McBride-Smith. Tune in Monday, July 28 at 11 a.m. on KGOU.

National Contest: Design a Tote Bag
Who knows tote bags better than public radio fans? Protect My Public Media, the advocacy group striving to protect public funding for the public media system, is asking for help in designing their first official tote bag. The winning designer will receive an iPad mini and, of course, a bag featuring their work. Submissions need to be in by Aug. 1; you can follow along at #ToteContest.
