Greetings!

Has anyone ever told you that you have a great name? It's almost as great as these NPR reporters, whose names just seem to flow off the tongue.

Thank you! Many listeners love to hear us attempt to pronounce their names as we thank them during our membership drives, but some are less amused. Whether we only slightly mangled yours, or made it unrecognizable, we do thank you!

Thanks for subscribing to the KGOU e-Newsletter. Send feedback to the editor at membership@kgou.org.

All the best,
Laura Knoll

Visiting Bangladeshi Journalist Interns at KGOU
Sima with Nora GuthrieSima Bhowmik, a journalist with ABC radio in Bangladesh, spent three weeks working at KGOU as part of a U.S. State Department program. In that short time, Sima shadowed KGOU News Director Kurt Gwartney as he delivered early morning news updates, reported from the state Capitol, and traveled to Tulsa to report on the new Woody Guthrie Center.

Sima also shadowed Indian Times host Susan Shannon at the OU Powwow, and provided some insight into working conditions in factories in Bangladesh for World Views, which airs tomorrow at 4 p.m. Sima truly immersed herself in the work of KGOU, and even spent a few hours answering phones during the membership drive. After leaving Oklahoma, Sima and her group headed for Washington, D.C. and then home.

sun wearing sunglasses Spring Membership Drive Update
KGOU's future is bright, thanks to everyone who contributed to our recent Spring Membership Drive! Donations from 158 new members, 970 renewing and rejoining members pledged $171,500 (so far) to the effort. More contributions are coming in daily, so it's not too late to be counted in support of KGOU -- use our online donation forms or call us at (405) 325-5468 or (866) 533-2470. We're hoping to reach our goal of $180,000 soon!

Our success is dependent on some important partners for the membership drive: our wonderful phone volunteers, Café Plaid, Jason's Deli and Gaberino's Homestyle Italian Restaurant for keeping the volunteers and staff fed, and for matching challenge grants from our generous members. Thank you!
