 Our Amazing Neighborhood June 23-27
Preschool - 4th grade Mrs. Luboff, Ms Garcia, Ms. Robles and Ms. Norman Next week's Amazing Neighborhood Camp is based on the classic children's tale, The Big Orange Splot. It's the story of a man who wakes up one day top find a big orange splot on the roof of his very ordinary house. As he paints and repaints his house in an effort to match the splot, his neighbors get increasingly annoyed...until they are won over and the neighborhood becomes a much less boring place. Our campers will be creating a neighborhood with big cardboard box houses. We'll start with a big orange splot, of course! The older students will have opportunities to paint with local artist Rene Norman. The older children will also have an opportunity to focus on the nature surrounding our very own neighborhood. We'll begin the week with hiking and cataloging nature using cameras. We'll discuss the key elements of photography: shapes, colors, mood, and materials to use to capture those elements. We'll use our photographs to inspire different types of artwork. For example, a photograph of Topa Topa would have many translations: Painting on canvas, drawing on paper, collage/mixed media, clay modeling, and storytelling. Everyone will have time to engage in traditional camp activities, too. Come join the fun!

The superheroes can show off their costumes in the Ojai 4th of July Parade which is going to be especially fun because we have a 46 Ford pulling a trailer so we can hop up for a ride when we get tired!
