Why do you not use eyewear?

EXCUSE #1  "I don't want raccoon eyes!"

• Try different types of eyewear to find what fits you best, or try adjustable eyewear for the best customer-fit.

 What happens if you don't:

• Night vision loss is just one of the possible results of tanning without eye protection. Night vision loss is directly related to overexposure to UV light. Damage is permanent; there is no cure.

   

EXCUSE #2  "I put coins over my eyes."

• Do not use towels, sunglasses, cotton balls, coins etc. to cover your eyes while tanning.

What happens if you do:

• Conjunctivitis or "pink eye" can result from using objects not intended for use as eye protection or using goggles that are not properly sanitized after each use. This condition requires medical attention.

 EXCUSE #3  "I close my eyes when I tan"

• Eyelids block only 25% of harmful UV rays. FDA compliant eyewear is the only way to completely block UV rays while tanning.

What happens without FDA approved eyewear?

• Delicate eye tissue can be damaged by overexposure to UV light, resulting in basal cell carcinoma. A temporary corneal burn can also result from short-term overexposure to UV light, with tearing, pain, and blurring lasting for 2-3 days.

 EXCUSE #4  "I put a towel over my face."

• Towels, t-shirts and other fabrics will only provide a SPF of about 5 or 6. No fabric will protect your eyes from UV overexposure!

What happens without FDA approved eyewear?

• Loss of color vision can occur when eyes are overexposed to UV light, either indoors or outdoors. Damage is permanent.
