Summer Update

As we hang on to the last few weeks of this beautiful summer we wanted to share with you some recent developments and upcoming events in the parish.

Council and Commissions Organization
We have adopted a new overall Pastoral Council and Commission organizational structure. The general concept is that all councils and commissions will now meet on the same night, the 3rd Wednesday of each month beginning Oct 19, 2016. Each council and commission will conduct their business, and then all members will gather as a group for each commission to share 2-3 highlights of what they are working on. We will then close with community prayer. The intent of this new structure is to improve communication of information throughout the parish. The various commissions will be better equipped to intentionally work together, with a greater understanding of how their proposed actions may positively impact and compliment other Commissions' programs and projects. We are also introducing three new Commissions: Development, Faith Formation and Pastoral Care and Outreach. They will work alongside our existing Finance Council and Liturgy Commission.

Cell Tower Project in Final Phase
We've negotiated a final lease with Verizon on our Cell Tower project which we expect to sign in the next few weeks. Final drawings and permits have been submitted to the city. If all goes as expected we will see construction starting before the end of the year.

Welcome Father Jim
Father Tom Lamanna,S.J. who also serves as the local Tacoma Jesuit Superior, has been called to Rome from September to November to participate in the 36th General Convention of the Society of Jesus. I've asked Father Tom to share information on what this means. We are fortunate that Father Jim Harbaugh, S.J. will fill in for Father Tom while he's gone. We will introduce Father Jim to the parish soon.

Parish Programs are Ramping Up
All parish programs are gearing up for the 2016-17 year. If interested in First Communion, RCIA, RCIC (for children), Confirmation, Youth Group, Religious Education, or enrolling in our school (pre-K thru 8), please visit our website or call the office 253 - 383-2783 for information.

Grateful for Your Prayers
Thanks for your continued prayers regarding my broken heel. My artificial knee is now joined by a razor thin titanium plate and 13 screws! Another 6-8 weeks and I'll be able to walk on it and begin physical therapy.

Join Us
If you are new to our parish and haven't yet registered as a parishioner we'd love to have you do so. We have a new online parish registration form that makes it quick and easy for you
and our staff. Please join us!

Enjoy these lovely summer days.

Pray for Stephen Ministry

Keep Stephen Ministry in your prayers as dedicated parishioners prepare themselves to effectively show the love and mercy of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church by walking beside those experiencing crisis.

Don't miss your chance to join Saint Patrick Catholic Church's first team of Stephen Ministers! A dozen potential Stephen Ministers have pledged to complete 50+ hours of training over 6 months, in addition to ongoing continued education and a two-year commitment to the ministry. A training schedule is in place targeting the end of February 2017 as a date to begin accepting care receivers.

The first training session for Stephen Ministers is August 30, 6:30 - 8:45 pm at the Parish Center.

Intended to jump on the bandwagon but haven't yet made the leap? Registration is required and there is still time to register.

Stewards Among Us: Bob & Karen

We surpassed our $500 goal in matching donations. Since the matching incentive gifted by Bob and Karen Bruback was announced, an additional $610 has been donated to the 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal! Thank you Bob and Karen and to the donors who made their generous gifts to help the parish earn the match from the Bruback's.

Bob and Karen have given their gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal some time ago, along with over 400 other donors. After further discernment, the Brubacks graciously pledged that they would provide an additional gift; a match to donations made to the 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal, up to a total of $500.

Saint Patrick Catholic Church has mets its goal in pledges, yet those pledges still need to be fulfilled if we are to receive a rebate and ensure that we do not fall short of our goal, resulting in a need to remit a payment to the Seattle Archdiocese from our parish savings. Currently our pledge fulfillment rate is 73%. So fulfill your pledges and then get a matching donation from your comany so that we can improve accessibility to our parish for all.  Our parish rebate project carries a price tag of $20,000.  We have a ways to go!

Good Neighbor Parking

As we strive to be good neighbors to those living near our Church, we encourage everyone to be sensitive to the residential parking situation. The street parking around Saint Patrick Church is limited and can be challenging, please park in the parking lot whenever possible. If you park on the street, please remember to obey all no-parking signs, do not park closer than 15' from a fire hydrant and do not block a cross walk or anyone's driveway. Thank you for helping us be a good neighbor.
