Commencement

Dear Friends,

A week from today, we will honor our graduating class of 2016. I have grown fond of these kids, who are now so ready to move beyond our school walls. But while commencement is a time to start anew, to look forward, I hope they take to heart a few life lessons learned at St. Pats.

I hope they treasure the special relationships they have made. Many have known one another for the past nine years, literally growing up together. I want them to recognize the power of their gentleness, as expressed when they held kindergarten kids' hands during Field Day. I hope they remember the dignity they gave when they smiled and said, "Good morning," while passing food to adults who needed a meal during Keep 'Em Warm and Fed. I've seen the soon-to-be graduates struggle to master math concepts or to write an essay, and I pray they continue to exercise the self-discipline it takes to succeed in anything they do.  I would be happy if they recall later in high school that they crowned Mary, took time to altar serve at funerals and enacted the Stations of the Cross so others could feel the suffering of Jesus for our salvation.  I believe they will subconsciously remember to ask St. Patrick to pray for them when they themselves are in need.

As I look at our mission statement, which calls for us to prepare students with an abiding Catholic faith who pursue academic excellence and model honesty and respect, I know our eighth graders are ready for a new beginning. I am honored to have them join our 123-year legacy.

Join me in praying for the class of 2016.
St. Patrick, pray for us.

Chris

Egg Drop

St. Pat's students participated in an Egg Drop experiment on June 2. They were given size and weight restrictions for creating a package that would protect a raw egg to prevent it from being broken in a drop from the roof of the school building.  It was an educational and fun event for students to participate in.

Service Ministry

Thank you to all who brought in items for Friday's Pregnancy Aid donation drive.  We had a great response with over 25 car seats donated as well as several strollers, pack 'n plays and other baby items.  The volunteers at Pregnancy Aid were so thankful for your generous support.

Wednesday is the last food drive collection of the year for St. Leo's Food Connection.  Let's make this the biggest collection of the year!  Clean out your pantry, buy extra cereal or canned meats and bring in your donation by this Wednesday, June 8th.

The 2015-2016 yearbook has arrived and your students will be receiving their's soon.

I would like to take a moment to thank the teachers and students for inviting me into their classrooms and on field trips to take photos.

Thank you to all the parents and staff that submitted photos to be considered for the yearbook. It is everyone working together that has created this book of memories for our kids.
A huge "thank you...thank you...thank you" to Michele Graves, Bonnie Viafore and Kathey Bucholz for proofing/ editing and answering my  1,001 questions.

I sincerely "thank you" to Mr. Gavin for asking and trusting me with telling our school's story. It has been my honor and privilege to create this year's yearbook.
