Do you love me?
Welcome back from Spring Break and into the Third Week of Easter. I hope your week was restful and a little bit adventurous. I found the break to come at a perfect time because what was a bit of fatigue going into break is now a restlessness to get back to our work.
One of the first work emails I read after returning from a trip to California was from our Community Ministry Team who prepare our theme for the week including a question and prayer. Mary Larsen's question for us as we return is, How can I feast on God's love this week? The question comes in the context of our Sunday's Gospel when Jesus invites his disciples to sit with him on the beach to share breakfast. He reveals himself to them, once again, through a meal, through the breaking of bread. Most important, it is at that meal that the resurrected Jesus asks Peter, do you love me? He asks the same question three times until Peter gets perturbed and says, "you know I love you." Jesus says, "then feed my sheep". This story is more than just about a meal but rather a feast acknowledging our need for forgiveness, reconciliation, and our own call to discipleship. It is a story of how Jesus loves us and asks us in return, do we love him? I really like the richness of the question of the week but to make it even more meaningful, the Community Ministry Team is asking that each of us, each day, take note of something we love about a friend or family member. We should pick a different person each day as a way to pay attention to the love that surrounds us on a regular basis. It is a way that we can make more real God's love for us by acknowledging those who love us. We will be doing this in school but I hope and encourage you to do the same at home. It could be a wonderful way to hear how we care for each other, how we feed God's sheep.
The prayer we will use this week with the kids, and again, I offer it to your families is:
"Soften my gaze so that I view others with the kind of tenderness and love you showed to so many."
May each day of this Easter season provide glimpses of your glory. Alleluia.
Welcome back and peace,
Chris

Dear Friends,
One of the most important fundraisers and fun events we have as St. Pat's is our REACH Auction.
This year our Reunion theme, Building on Generations for a Bright Future, is a perfect reminder that we connect, or better yet, reunite, our gifts with our hopes. What we hope for our school, what we desire for our children is united with your generosity. A gift of any amount is a gift for all of our kids now and in the future.
I know this community to be generous, but this week I am asking you to consider making a bid to our fund-an-item. Whether attending the auction or not, I ask you to support our vision to introduce cutting edge technology in each classroom.
We have looked closely at our classroom needs and piloted technology extensively, our decision to put innovative interactive 70 inch panels into every classroom is a game-changer for our students.
Your children deserve to be taught with passion and care in a classroom equipped to explore learning inside and outside the walls of our school.
Pray for the success of our REACH Auction.
Sincerely,
Chris Gavin

High-Tech Interactive Flat Panels Planned for REACH Fund An Item
"Learning should always be active, stimulating and yes - fun," says Principal Chris Gavin. And that will be easier to accomplish with Boxlight interactive flat panel displays in every classroom that look like giant tablets with easy viewing from the entire classroom. Interactive flat panels are sophisticated teaching tools with technology that provides internet access and allows for the integration of learning apps and teachers' instruction. Imagine giant, interactive and collaborative classroom tablets that teachers and students can use to share with the entire class educational content such as notes, assignments, artwork, video, and almost anything imaginable. Research has shown that students learn best through active engagement, group participation and frequent interaction and feedback. With the interactive flat panels, teachers and students simply touch the screen to write, edit or navigate through a presentation - which provides a highly interactive and collaborative learning experience.
Help St. Pat's teachers and students take full advantage of the technology that is shaping the future of education.

Celebrating Earth's 4.54 billionth birthday on April 22
By Liberty Evans-Agnew
Saint Patrick Catholic School 8th Grader
The Earth may have been around for many millennia, but that doesn't mean it has been celebrated enough.
This Earth Day, St. Patrick's will take a few steps forward in its commitment to the planet. We are excited to ask you and your children to walk to school on April 22. We would love your children to walk completely to school, but we understand that some families will have some difficulties. If you live farther away or do not feel comfortable with your child walking alone, we invite you to join us at the church parking lot between 8:00 and 8:20. Then we can walk to school together. These seemingly miniscule steps are a step toward a healthier environment, and we hope you would consider walking more often.
During the week of Earth Day, we will have visits from L'Arche and they will teach the lower grades. There will also be a plant sale after school. St. Patrick's will also take part in a campus cleanup and compost project. We hope that your children enjoy the week and celebrate the Earth with gratefulness.
If you would also like to take part in earth day at home, here are a few suggestions:
- Remember the 3 R's of conservation: 1. Reduce 2. Reuse 3. Recycle
- Compost at home or create a family garden
- Buy biodegradable and eco friendly materials
- Walk and bicycle more, drive less
- Buy only as much as you consume
Thank you and enjoy another beautiful week on Earth.
