This week we wanted to update you on our Accreditation Self Study work. I have asked Barbara Bolanos, Vice Principal and Accreditation Chair to write today's Blarney Stone message. Have a wonderful week.
Peace, Chris
The process is cumbersome.
As you know, we are undergoing our Self Study year in the accreditation process. It is cumbersome, tedious, and exhaustive. We must examine all of our school programs from many perspectives in order to determine what we may be doing well, what we could do better, and what we could add to our palette to improve learning for all students at St. Patrick School.
The Self Study is a community effort, involving all of us who care about this school and its continued legacy and mission of nurturing, "an abiding Catholic faith while pursuing academic excellence and modeling honesty, respect, and service as dynamic members of our world community."
Thus far, we are on track in the process. The Stakeholders' Meeting and survey results are in and being analyzed, committees are meeting on a regular basis, and the initial document drafts are underway. This involves many extra hours of commitment from faculty members, staff, parents, and our greater community.
Is this effort worth it? Believe me, I have wondered that a few times! But then, I see such things as our newly developed student support plans, the developing honors program, new paint for the halls in December, and so much more, and I know that these improvements can be directly tied to reflections and reviews of what we have to offer our students.
The process may be cumbersome, but it yields priceless results. As in Advent we strive to make our lives better and prepare the way for Jesus, through accreditation we seek to offer our best to our children, so we can help to prepare them for futures filled with blessings.
I wish you a blessed Christmas season, Barbara Bolanos Vice Principal

Community Ministry
St. Patrick School continues to pray with the Advent Wreath as a whole school, in classrooms, and in our church on the weekends. Our Monday morning school prayer focuses on the lighting of the second purple candle of peace. We pray for peace at home and in our world, we look to Mary as an example of a woman of peace.
Join us for the Parish and School Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception Tuesday December 8 at 8:45. Advent Service Projects continue in our classrooms as students work with local agencies to pray for our community and to meet some of their needs. The Question of the Week: "How does Mary lead us in ways of peace by the example of her life?" Inspiration can be found in the readings for December 8 as well as in other stories of her days on earth and her messages since then.

CYO
Basketball
We had a fun filled weekend. Here are the game summaries from all the teams that reported:
The 4th grade girls played a fantastic season opener against a much taller and larger St. Charles team. We played hard, with solid defense, and great rebounds. The game ended in a tie, after one overtime, 19 all. Great game, Brooklyn, Anna, Sophia, Aaliyah, Gracie, Marina, Maya, and Anneliese! Go Shamrocks.
The 5th grade boys had a great game against the St. Charles Cougars. We had a lead with 24 seconds left, but they scored a great jump shot and connected on their free throws as the game ended to win 31-28. Matteo S. scored 27 points and just missed the desperation half-court shot at the end of the game that almost tied it. Liam Mc. had great moments at point guard as he made several great moves to get easy looks at the basket. Liam M. pulled down 8 rebounds in 6 minutes of play. Jordan A. played the best defense of his life and put up a couple of shots. Aidan G. played solid defense in the second half and got a turnover for us. John B. played great inside getting rebounds and scoring our other point. Peter M. had a solid game at center as he pulled down rebounds and made some great post moves. Luke A. had a great steal. Levi C. worked hard on both ends of the court and kept the team focused. Soren O. really came on at the end of the game, getting steals and shooting the ball. Triton V. worked hard and really improved as the game went on. Great work boys, we will get back on track next week!
6th grade girls started the season with a double header. 1st game was against St. Francis we took the win 30 to 22. The following scored: Jo 14, Robyn 10, and Jasmine 2 and Lillian 2.
Coming into the second game St. Pats battled to keep the lead during the first half against All Saints. St. Pats efforts were rewarded with the win, 36 to 18. Leading the team with scoring and intensity Robyn 12 and Lillian 12 adding to the win Jo 8, and Ryan 4.
All players contributed with great defense, rebounds and steals.
The 7th and 8th grade girls played on December 6th. It was a tightly contested, but fun game for the girls. The 8th grade girls won by a score of 23-17. However, the win goes to the 7th grade girls because the 8th grade team borrowed a 5th grade boy to help round out the team. As was stated earlier, it was a fun game and all players worked hard and played lots of minutes.

Tuition Assistance
Fulcrum Foundation Hossfled Tuition Assistance Program
We Are Currently Accepting Applications For 2016-2017
It's our mission to make Catholic schools accessible for families and students. For the 2016-2017 school year, a Fulcrum Foundation Hossfeld Tuition Assistance grant will provide $1,100 towards elementary tuition and $1,250 towards high school tuition. Grants are distributed annually to students in grades K-12 and are awarded on the basis of financial need.
Beginning this fall, Fulcrum is partnering with FACTS to manage the collection and processing of tuition assistance applications. Award decisions will still be made by Fulcrum and will still be based on financial need.
It costs $24 per family (no matter how many students) to apply for a Fulcrum Foundation tuitionassistance grant. You will be reimbursed for the full $24 even if you do not receive an award, but your student must be enrolled in a Catholic school for the 2016-2017 school year.
Important: Please read the Frequently Asked Questions prior to applying! The FAQ contains important information about who should apply and gives financial guidelines that are helpful for determining your eligibility. Click Here to Apply for Fulcrum Tuition Assistance St. Patrick Catholic School is also offering financial aid for the 2016/17 school year as usual. We would like any family in need of assistance to please complete this application. It is not necessary to also apply for the Hossfeld Tuition Assistance program as in years past. If you have any questions about this change please contact Bonnie Viafore in the school office at (253)272-2297 or bviafore@saintpats.org. Thank you!
