Springtime in the desert means plenty of sunshine, azure blue skies and balmy temperatures. It's the perfect setting for all kinds of outdoor events and fun festivals.

  • See your favorite MLB team in Tempe during Cactus League Spring Training. Tempe's home team, the Angels, will play 14 other teams including the Dodgers, Giants, Rockies and Mariners.

  • The Pot of Gold Music Festival, March 13-15 and 17 is a four-day music festival at Tempe Beach Park. This outdoor concert will feature some of the biggest names in music including Bastille, Fall Out Boy, Kendrick Lamar and Korn.

  • Find original works of art, non-stop live entertainment and food in Downtown Tempe at the Tempe Festival of the Arts, March 27-29.

  • Experience a unique Chinese tradition when paddle teams from far and wide race across Tempe Town Lake during the Arizona Dragon Boat Festival, March 28-29.

Broadway Shows at ASU Gammage  

ASU Gammage, a historic hall designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, brings blockbuster Broadway shows to Tempe. You'll want to see all three of their upcoming productions:

  • DIRTY DANCING, February 17-22 - Hit songs, sensational dancing, romance and a timeless story have made Dirty Dancing a worldwide hit.

  • ROGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA, March 10-15 - This lush production is loaded with fairy tale fantasy, an incredible orchestra, all the moments you know and love and some surprising new twists.

  • MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, April 21-26 - This is a fascinating look at Motown founder Berry Gordy who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. It's a great story loaded with your favorite Motown hits.

Spring Butterfly Exhibit at Desert Botanical
Garden  

   

Stroll through the Desert Botanical Garden's Marshall Butterfly Pavilion, March 7 through May 10, and see hundreds of colorful butterflies in a lush garden setting. Friendly Garden volunteers are on hand to answer questions and share information. On Saturday mornings, you can learn more about the caterpillars that transform into beautiful butterflies. "Meet the Caterpillars" will take place on Saturdays at 10 a.m. from March 7-April 18 (limit 25 per walk on a first come, first served basis, no RSVP required). The Spring Butterfly Exhibit will be open from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily.
