Fall Festival Celebrates 40th Anniversary
ACC will host the 40th Annual Fall Festival and Zombie 5K Fun Run on the campus grounds on Saturday, October 24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will include games, Halloween story time in the Theatre, arts and crafts and food booths sponsored by local businesses, and campus clubs and organizations. Registration for the Zombie Fun Run is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the run. Vendor booths are still available for the festival. The cost for each booth ranges from $40 to $60. ACC Named Among Best Colleges in U.S.
ACC has been ranked as one of the best community colleges in the country according to data compiled by a financial services firm. The website WalletHub, recently ranked ACC number 24 among community colleges throughout the country. The site based their rankings on 17 different aspects including tuition cost, career outcome, classroom experience, student to faculty ratio, student loan data and education outcomes. ACC was ranked the first among community colleges in Texas. Read more about the ranking.

ACC Regents Receive Engagement Survey Results
Student engagement at ACC has seen improvement in the past two years according to results from the 2015 Community College Survey of Student Engagement. Director of Retention and Student Success Holly Williams delivered the report to the Board of Regents during their meeting on September 24. In other action, regents also approved several contracts for software and computers and also approved the hiring of Dr. Nadezhda Nazarenko as the dean of Academic Foundation Programs. Foundation to Host 16th Annual Gala
The Foundation will put out the red carpet for An Evening of Elegance during the 16th Annual ACC Foundation Gala. The event benefits ACC student scholarships. The Foundation will host the Gala on November 20 at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Manvel. Dress for the event will be semi-formal. Gala festivities begin with a social reception at 6 p.m. There will also be live and silent auctions during the Gala. After the dinner, the evening will feature music from the Big Swing Jazz Orchestra under the direction of David Griffith. Read more about the event. Baseball and Softball teams to Host Fundraiser on October 16
The baseball and softball teams will host the 10th annual Athletics Dinner and Auction fundraiser on Friday, October 16 in the ACC Gym. Proceeds from the barbecue dinner and auction will go towards scholarships, facility improvements and upgrades for player equipment. KACC Launches New Streaming App
 Fans of KACC 89.7 FM can now listen to their favorite rock station from their phone with the new mobile app. The KACC Gulf Coast Rocker app is available for Apple iOS and Android phones and will stream live broadcast of the station including classic rock music, live events and local sports. The new app can be found on the Apple App Store or on Google Play by searching 'KACC.' The station can also be heard online.

ACC Community Chorus Begins Second Year
 After a successful first year, the ACC Community Chorus is preparing to return to the stage a new production for the holiday seasons. The choir will open up its 2015-16 year with a Christmas performance on December 8. Singers interested in joining the production can attend rehearsals on Tuesday nights from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Membership in the choir is open to everyone in the community. The holiday concert will be at the Alvin First United Methodist Church at 611 W. South Street on December 8. Drama Begins Performances of Getting Sara Married
The Drama Department will begin performances of Getting Sara Married starting on October 10 at the ACC Theatre. The fall production is a play written by Sam Bobrick and is about a woman who tries to find love for her 30-something lawyer niece by forcibly bringing a potential suitor to her home. Performances on October 10 and 15-17 will be at 7:30 p.m. There will be a 2:30 p.m. performance on October 11. Police Department to Issue 'Challenge Coins'
 The college police department will begin awarding "Challenge Coins" to students and staff members for actions that improve campus life. The coins contain the emblems of the ACC Police Department and the ACC seal. Some of the actions that would be recognized including driving safely, assisting a fellow student or staff member, picking up litter and various acts of kindness that enhances the atmosphere at ACC. ACC Nursing Program Utilizes New Equipment
Associate Degree Nursing students recently began using human patient simulators, such as SimMan 3G and SimMan Essential, after purchasing them through a Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant from the Texas Comptroller's Office. The simulators are one of the most important training tools for nursing students as they demonstrate many of the situations they will face on the job, said Dr. Debbi Fontenot, director of Associate Degree Nursing. New Painting Exhibit on Display in Fine Arts Gallery
A new painting exhibit A Flower Needs A Garden by artist Bradley Kerl is now on display in the Fine Arts Gallery. The series of paintings will remain on display until October 22.

ACC Seeks Help in Updating Memorial Wall The college is seeking help from the community to recognize local veterans who have lost their lives in war for the college's Memorial Wall. The Wall includes names of those veterans who lived in the college district and were killed in action during World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. College staff would like to update the wall to add those who have died in the Gulf War and the War on Terror. | Industrial Design Technology |
The Industrial Design Technology program provides extensive hands-on training that covers basic principles of engineering drafting and design and advanced specialized training in piping and mechanical design. Students may choose a general Industrial Design Technology degree to study the various disciplines that ACC has to offer. Also available are specialization Industrial Design Technology to degrees for piping and mechanical design. This well-rounded education provides students with many opportunities and the necessary qualifications as entry-level designers. The program also offers free monthly seminars on AutoCAD to those interested in learning more. The next seminar will be on October 17 starting at 9 a.m. in N-108.
