ACC Regents Approve Employee Exit Incentive Plan
College Tuition Increase Approved
|
ACC regents approved an employee exit incentive program during its regular meeting May 26. The plan, which is designed to reduce expenses for ACC in the wake of budget cuts mandated by the Texas legislature, will offer long-standing employees an exit incentive. Employees who have been with ACC for 25-years or more will receive 50 percent of their base salary, distributed over four-years, if they choose to leave the college by Sept. 1, 2011. The plan will also provide 30 percent of an employee's base salary, distributed over two years, for those with 10 to 24-years of service with ACC.
In other matters, board members approved an increase in tuition and course fees for both credit and continuing education workforce development programs. In-district tuition will increase from $40 per credit hour to $42 and out-of-district tuition will go from $80 to $84 per hour. In addition, the registration fee will increase from $21 to $30 and online course fees will increase from $25 to $30. Course fee increases will also affect health-related programs including first-aid, polysomnography, respiratory care and emergency medical technology.

College Hosts Regular Online Auctions
Items Available for Sale at Public Surplus Site
| ACC is among many educational institutions that now sell its outdated and unused equipment and furniture online. The ACC Board of Regents approved the use of online selling in early 2004 as another option for liquidating goods. The college still can sell items through various other means, such as public auctions, closed or sealed bids, as necessary. The online auctions are conducted through Public Surplus (www.publicsurplus.com), an internet service that works much like the popular eBay, but is designed specifically for municipalities, governmental agencies and educational institutions. Registration is free for bidders with Public Surplus, but it is necessary to read the terms and conditions very carefully before bidding and purchasing items online. Items purchased may be picked up at ACC's Receiving Department. New items are posted regularly. Online listings for equipment are categorized with a detailed description and photograph and are open for bidding usually for 7 days. For more information about ACC online auctions, call 281-756-3809. |
