ANNUAL CHARITY EVENT ANOTHER SUCCESS - RAISING $4,400!

The Greater Hudson Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Holiday Auction for Charity on December 6th at The White Birch Banquet Hall, 222 Central Street in Hudson, raising $4,400.00 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Special thanks to all those that donated and participated in the auction! During the last twelve years of holding the Annual Auction the GHCC members and local businesses have been able to raise an outstanding $53,400 for charity.
 
The St. Vincent de Paul Society, which is operated through the Blessed John XXIII Parish at the St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson, assists many local families by maintaining a food panty, assisting with rent and utility bills, and especially helping during the holidays by distributing food baskets and gifts to families in need.  The families in need range from senior citizens living on their own to families with young children but they all share a common characteristic; they are regular families struggling with rising  cost of living and limited resources.  This year Pauline Boisvert, Director of the St. Vincent de Paul stated, "The need is overwhelming this year with many families seeking assistance for the Hudson community.  This is the highest it's ever been in many, many years.  The assistance this auction has brought is definitely greatly appreciated and necessary to help aid these families, it's been a very tough year for many."
 
More than 60 business members of the Greater Hudson Chamber of Commerce along with other local businesses donated wonderful items for the silent auction.  Jean Pardee of Hudson won the Jar of Money donated by Showtime Computers. The auction held many chances to win for all those in attendance but most important offered local business members an opportunity to generously support the community.  Also lending it's support was Kevin Thompson of T-BONES Great American Eatery, who brought the T-BONES Prize Wheel to the event, inviting everyone to take a chance to win gift certificates while all monies collected where also donated to charity!
 
The evening was a success with the hard work on the many volunteers from the Chamber and approximately 115 guests that attended showing their holiday spirit and generosity by participating in the auction along with the overwhelming support of the event sponsors were All Generations In Home Care & Adult Day Program, Enterprise Bank and Web Action Group as Guardian Angel Sponsors; Area News as Media Sponsor and Anne's Florals & Gifts as the Floral Sponsor.  Special thanks to our photographer for the event, Brenda Ryan Photography.  The Gr. Hudson Chamber of Commerce is proud to play an integral role in aiding the St. Vincent de Paul Society for all they provide for our community!
