THE POLAR EXPRESS STOPS AT THE HILLS MEMORIAL LIBRARY MONTHLY OPEN HOUSE

Hills Memorial Library "Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me,

as it does for all who truly believe."

Source: The Polar Express

Children and adults of Hudson are invited to travel on The Polar Express to the North Pole on Thursday December 20, 2102. Point of embarkation is the Hills Memorial Library Building at 16 Library St. at 6pm. Tickets on the Express will include a holiday Sing Along with local Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops, materials for a special craft for children and light refreshments. Children are invited to attend the program dressed in pj's.

The Polar Express, written by Chris Van Allsburg and published in 1985, has become a Christmas classic and the inspiration for a 2004 Oscar nominated film starring Tom Hanks. The book retells the memory/imagination story of a young boy who is called from his home by the sound of an approaching train whistle. The Polar Express takes the boy on a magical trip to the North Pole, where he is given the first gift of Christmas - a single bell from a reindeer harness.

The reading of The Polar Express will be done by Rodger's Memorial Library Children's staff and volunteers and staff will be on hand to handle the craft and the musical presentation will be coordinated by several Scout Leaders.  The presentation is offered by the Hudson Library Board of Trustees at part of the monthly schedule of  Open House events at the historic Hills Building.

For more information, contact the Rodgers Memorial Library at 886-6030 or www.rodgerslibrary.org.

ACHIEVE'S HARVARD PILGRIM '2012 PHYSICIAN HONOR ROLL'

Dartmouth HitchcockDartmouth-Hitchcock's Community Group Practices have once again been named to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care's (HPHC) "2012 Physician Group Honor Roll," in recognition of outstanding commitment to high quality care. This is the sixth consecutive time that Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Community Group Practices have achieved this designation. The Honor Roll highlights adult and pediatric physician groups that have achieved exceptional results in their approach to disease prevention and the treatment of chronic illness.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock is among the top performing groups in the HPHC network for their HEDIS Effectiveness of Care results for select measures of acute care, chronic care and preventive care.   HEDIS (Health Plan and Employer Data and Information Set),  which are set by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), is a tool used by most health plans in the United States to assess the clinical performance of doctors and quality of health care provided. HPHC identified practices whose performance exceeded the national 90th percentile on a majority of preventive and chronic care measures such as cervical and breast cancer screenings, adolescent well visits, and diabetic testing and management. Honor Roll physician group providers are noted in Harvard Pilgrim's printed and online provider directories, enabling members to evaluate and select physicians based on quality measures.

"It is an honor to once again be recognized for the high quality care we provide to our adult and pediatric patients," said Barbara Walters, DO, Executive Medical Director at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. "This affirms our continued commitment to adhere to the highest standards of health care delivery and quality, while providing the best care, in the right place, at the right time, every time."
