Writers Conference: Crafting Edition  
Registration is now open for the second annual Writers Conference: Crafting Edition.  The conference will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at the Kent District Library Service Center.  The event will feature Michigan authors and publishing insiders sharing their helpful tips on character development, practicing creative habits, editing and more. KDL will also be partnering with Self-E  to bring you the inaugural Indie Author Day, an hour long digital gathering featuring Q&A with writers, agents and other industry leaders. Coffee and snacks will be provided. A half hour break will be provided, please bring a lunch or visit a surrounding restaurant. All genres and skill levels are welcome. Pre-registration is required. For teens and adults.


Michigan Authors Night 

Come and support your local indie author community at Michigan Authors Night. Join us on September 26, 6 p.m. at the KDL Grandville Branch. Local authors will sign, sell and read passages from their books as well as answer your questions about the writing and publishing process.

Write Michigan Short Story Contest

Short story writers get ready! The Write Michigan Short Story Contest returns for a fifth year. Writers of all ages can enter, and are eligible for cash prizes and the opportunity to be published by Chapbook Press in the annual Write Michigan Anthology. This year, we are pleased to be adding an all age's Spanish language category! Entries will be accepted from September 1- November 30, one per person. Writing Workshop with Lisa McNeilley

If you have a manuscript you would like to get ready to submit to an agent or publisher join Lisa McNeilley, the facilitator of the Cascade Writers' Group, for The Words on the Page: Revision Workshop . This workshop will be provided by Great Lakes Commonwealth of Letters on Sunday, September 25, 2-5 p.m. at 758 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids. The workshop will be working with manuscripts in several ways, including getting feedback from other participants, critiquing your own writing, and receiving comments by Lisa.
