Greetings!

Seems like just yesterday we were unpacking from spring break and somehow it's already summer! It's time to trade in the textbooks for
leisurely reading and KDL is here to help you with our Summer Reading Program, Be Strong. Adults know that summer reading at KDL is great for kids, but it's also great for you!

This year, Michigan's most popular summer
reading event features a whole new lineup of adult programs and activities. Young and old alike need to avoid "Summer Slump"- the learning loss experienced when you're not engaged in educational activity. Exercise your mind and body with fun KDL programs, activities and reading lists for all ages.

Also new this year, you can sign up online and chart your progress or create a family account for all your readers.

Happy Reading!
-Lance Werner, Director

Come Cruise with KDL
Cruise around town with the newest item to check out from the library, KDL Cruisers

Sixteen branches have four Breezer Uptown EX 8-speed bicycles available to KDL cardholders age 18 or older in good standing. Each of these smooth-riding bikes comes with a basket, bell, bike lock and key. Although Michigan law doesn't require you to wear a helmet, we strongly recommend you bring your own.

We'll have you sign a borrower's agreement and waiver. You get to keep the bike for the day; just be sure to return it before the library's closing time! Lock the bike and return the key inside.

For a trail near you, be sure to check out Michigan Trails' interactive trail map. We'd love to see what adventures you take our KDL Cruisers on! Share your pics with the tags #KDLCruisers #KDLibrary.
