Write Michigan Winners Announced This Week |
Thank you to all who participated in the annual Write Michigan Short Story Contest! Nearly 500 writers from all over the state submitted pieces to be judged. The map on the right shows the locations of all who entered the contest.
The awards ceremony, anthology sale and book signing will take place on March 19 at 2:00 PM at the Cascade Township Branch.

We're Rolling Out the Red Carpet |
You are invited to the Kent County Teen Film Festival on Saturday, February 27 kicking off at 10:30 AM at Celebration! Cinema North. Free and open to the public, we will be showing the submitted short films created by our local teens.
Entries will be judged by a panel of judges during the Festival and prizes will be awarded for the best films in various categories. Library staff will notify all entrants in advance whether their film will be shown.

To cap off another successful season of KD aLe, we're throwing a wrap-up party at Gravel Bottom Brewery!Making it's debut on tap will be the winning brew from the KDL Home Brewing Competition, James and the Giant Peach Gose, as well as the re-released Scotch Ale brewed specially for the occasion by Gravel Bottom.
Food, beer, music and door prizes and the chance to hang out with cool library people will make this an all-around wonderful evening. We hope to see you beer-loving, fun-having, 21-years-and-older patrons on Wednesday, February 24th.

Trumpeter and musical chameleon, Brad Fritcher blends jazz, punk, hip-hop, and other influences into a musical tapestry.
Voted ArtPrize 2013 & St. Cecilia Music Center's winner of the Jazz Category, Fritcher will be performing at the Cascade Branch on Sunday, February 28 at 2:00 PM.
He pays a musical tribute to artists such as Flying Lotus, Terence Blanchard, Robert Glasper, Nirvana, John Coltrane and The Mars Volta. Tickets are not necessary.
