Greetings!

It's an exciting time here at Kent District Library as we roll out our new KDL catalog! We listened to what our customers wanted, and thanks to your support, we are happy to announce some service improvements for you! Here are just a few things we think you'll really like about the new catalog:

  • With one search, you can discover physical materials like books and DVDs; and digital items including eBooks, eAudiobooks and eComics; and even download or stream music and videos.
  • You'll be able to place more holds! The holds limit will increase from 15 to 25 for KDL cardholders.
  • Lessen your overdue fines by being able to renew material up to three times if there are no holds.

As we transition into the new system, there will be some temporary service disruptions until we go live on Thursday, September 17. For a complete list of new services and for some important dates related to our transition, please visit our FAQ page.

We hope to see you soon!

School Supply Santa Needs Your Help!
Last Year's Donations from KDL Patrons

During the month of August, all 18 KDL branches will participate in the collection of school supplies in support of School Supply Santa. The organization's goal is to help children and families who are facing financial constraints be prepared for the upcoming school year.

The School Supply Santa wish list includes backpacks, crayons,

pencils, colored pencils, markers, rulers, glue, scissors, notebooks, folders, dry erase markers, calculators, pencil holders, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, 3-ring binders or anything else you would buy for your own child.

Donations are welcome during open hours at all branches and the KDL Service Center. The donations benefit nine school districts: Byron Center, Godfrey Lee, Godwin, Grandville,

Kelloggsville, Kentwood, Rockford, Vista Charter Academy and Wyoming.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Thrives

The 7 month-old program already has over 2,600 participants and continues to grow! With a goal of expanding early literacy programs for young children and their families, 1KB4K is on its way to getting all KDL youngsters ready to read. You can sign your child up for the program at any of the KDL branches.

Does reading 1,000 books seem overwhelming? We promise, it's not as hard as you think!
3 books a day for 1 year = 1,095 books
1 book a day for 3 years = 1,095 books
