From the Director:
Summer Break Dilemma Solved Greetings!
As a parent, I know the dilemma: you want to get your kids outdoors and active in the summer, but you also don't want their literacy skills to backslide. We have solutions.
The Experience Summer @ KDL component of our summer reading programs for children and teens actually reward them for outdoor, cultural and even play activities.
And when it's too hot or rainy to play outside: KDLville early literacy play spaces at all 18 branches offer rotating activities including dress-up, art tables, a puppet stage and market stand, where learning and creativity are the focus. They'll be having so much fun they won't realize they're sharpening their literacy skills.
Lance Werner, KDL Director

Summer Reading @ KDL:
Lots to Do -- Inside and Outside the Library
With programs for kids, teens and adults, the whole family can get
Grounded in Happiness @ KDL this summer. And if discovering some great books isn't enough incentive to participate, we also have awesome prizes up for grabs, including gift cards to nearly 20 different stores, a John Ball Zoo membership, iPod shuffles and a NOOK eReader.
Summer Reading @ KDL kicked off on Saturday, June 1. Stop by your local branch to sign up, and don't forget to pick up a program guide while you're there. Our summer line-up includes dinosaurs, magic, animals, food and music, just to name a few!

Fundraising Score! Everybody Wins!
For KDL Fund Board members, the best part of supporting the library with your gifts is seeing that money spent on programming and materials that will allow KDL to offer you even more materials and programming.
As for next year's Book Bash, mark your calendar for the weekend of April 25, 26 and 27, 2014, for what has become Kent County's best giant book sale ever.
Click here to make a gift to KDL that will expand and enhance programming and collections for all. __________________________________________________________________ |
