Edward G. ("Ed") Heilman has associated with Lommen Abdo in an "of counsel" position. Karen Schlotthauer (who recently became a shareholder of Lommen Abdo) practiced with Ed for over twelve years, seven and a half as a principal of Heilman & Schlotthauer, PLLC.
Ed will continue to practice as a sole practitioner using the name "Heilman Law Offices" with an office in Minneapolis and an office in his home in Palm Desert, California, where he resides with his wife, Mary.
Ed's association with Lommen Abdo will give him the opportunity to continue to work on a cooperative basis with Karen and other attorneys at Lommen Abdo to provide expanded services to his clients and to provide backup as he transitions his practice toward retirement.
Ed is a Fellow with the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel ("ACTEC"), having served six years on ACTEC's Board of Regents and having served several years on ACTEC's Membership Selection Committee (serving as Chair during his final year).
Ed is an alumnus of Doane College in Crete, Nebraska (B.A. summa cum laude) and the University of California, Berkeley (M.A. in history and J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law). He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and California. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the State Bar of California. He is a past chairman of the Minnesota Probate & Trust Law Section and served for many years on the Minnesota CLE Board of Directors.

Outside of the practice of law, Ed served for a number of years on the Board of the Methodist Hospital (now Park Nicollet) Foundation. Ed proved that Methodist Hospital is not only a great place for health care, but also a great place to fall in love. Ed met his wife, Mary, at the dedication of the Methodist Hospital Cancer Center in February of 1990 and announced their engagement at the Foundation's Fall Benefit in October of 1990!
Ed also served several years on the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, Doane College, Crete, Nebraska, having retired from the Doane Board earlier this year.
In his spare time, Ed loves to play golf and is an avid rose gardener. Ed and Mary spend summers at Priest Lake, Idaho, where Ed is captain of their pontoon boat, Que Syrah Syrah!
